I want to thank all of you for helping answer questions about these cars - honestly, without this site, I would never have bought this car... When I went to pick it up to drive back (2 hours), I was quite worried because of all of the horror stories I have read on here. I had the names of TWO towing companies in my pocket, and a fully charged cell phone - just in case. I was also preparing to get pulled over (the cops ALWAYS pulled me over in the 996 - if for no reason than to check my liscense and insurance) - I never get a ticket.... 1987 white/blk/red testarossa 10,000 miles. I'm the second owner. Bought at Continental motorsports new, with the maintenance log stamped by them for the first 4-6 years. Looks like it sat for awhile then, with regular usage agin since 2000 and detailed records from that point. LFSC has changed fluids/ done annual maintenance on it since then. Full major/clutch/brakes/waterpump/tires in last 12 months. Exterior is immaculate - small scratch on right rear bumper touched up. No stone chips/scratches/etc. Front spoiler lip was touched up with flat black(records provided). I would have preffered red, but wasn't willing to pay a huge premium for it (10k or so, is what I figure). The white actually looks great, and its much more stealth - I drove through 2 speed traps, and the cop didn't even follow me. I was shocked! Interior looks great - minimal dash shrinkage/cluster distortion. I might be funny, but I love the interior colors! (Black dash/console/steering wheel, red everything else). The racy interior makes up for the mild exterior. Very faint wear on drivers seat - otherwise immaculate. I saw several cars with beige interiors and brown dashes, it just didn't do it for me - I know, to each his own. Car has a very nostalgic 1980's radio (cute!), and a k40 built in radar detector of questionable worth. Any way to tell how old this unit is? It did beep through the speed traps... Has all of the tools (look untouched/jack/etc). All manuals. PPI went fine, some monor oil seepage on the motor fixed before it was picked up. Car is gorgeous - and you know you did the right thing when you go out to the garage 4 times to look at it each day...Looks damn exotic - viva la 80's! I'm going to have to dig out my white blazer, and grow stubble! I think that if I had been willing to travel the US I could have gotten a comparable car, in red, for alittle more---but it just didn't make sense to do so. Figure 3-4 ppi's at 500$+, 3-4 tickets at 300$+, hauling it back at 2000$ plus, and missed time at work ($$$$)...you are talking 10k plus in expenses, depending on how you value your time... Either way, I'm thrilled...and I will see you guys around. If you see a white testarossa in milwaukee/wisconsin/north chicago suburbs, its probably me! Kudos to LFSC for a pleasant buying experience - I can definitely say there was no pressure to buy...Tyler responded to emails in what seemed like minutes. Apparantly their red testarossa sold the day after I bought mine... Thanks again for the help!
Lucky Bastard! I hope my dream comes true in the next couple years too. Have fun and try to stay out of trouble!
Here is a pic of said car Congrats and enjoy in good health. BTW I thought LFSC had a red 89 for sale, that was one owner, and priced about 5K above yours? Image Unavailable, Please Login
I was trying to convince myself to get the red one - resale in mind and all. But the comparison between the two was night and day...the white one looked way better - even my wife could easily tell the difference... The red one looked like it was driven through a sandstorm or hail storm- paint very dimpled/chipped. It was buffed through in 1-2 spots...The ground skirt looked like it hit every speed bump in chicago... The mileage was questionable. The white car LOOKED like it only went 10k miles - no seat wear/no pedal wear/immaculate paint. The red car had a tattered drivers seat, worn through flooring, worn through pedals, and - did I mention the bad paint? The red car also had few maintenance records that I saw. I was told it had "all records", but I only saw a thin file - and NONE of the records had a mileage really noted...it did just have a major done _ LFSC did this. Carfax had zero entries on the car - other than purchase date. This car looked like it had a rough life. So, for 5-10k$ less (I don't know what the red one sold for, but the seller of the white one was willing to drop the price quite a bit and fix oil leaks), I have a pristine car that looks like it rolled of the showroom floor... I'll take a nice white car over a worn red car any day. Part of the joy of owning an exotic is ahving a gorgeous one!
Enjoy in good health bo, and for many years to come. Im on my 5th year of owning my TR, and its been a slice, hope the same for you and your wife
bpu699, now that you own a ferrari, you need to change your profle to ferrari's owned "testarossa". also there is no mention of the purchace price in this thread yet. those of us who are still aspiring to buy need to know current prices, unless you would like to keep it private, no hard feelings. congrats.
Wow, very nice... Congratulations...! Look forward to your driving impressions after you've had it out a few times... Please post more pictures...
Awesome!!!! Congrats!!!! I would take that great condition white one over a beat red one any day!!!! Time to post some pics!!!
Dont bother with the red Testarossa, mine was red and my 328 was white. At night the best color is the white, it will show all the time and wont look orange. Enjoy your Ferrari.
Hello everyone, I believe I was the one who bought the red testarossa. Yup the 89, I saw the paint and the rough interior however I plan to restore it to full showroom condition. Wish me luck. I hope I don't have a lot of problems; we will see. This is also my first fcar. I have been reading a lot in this forum and thank all for the information that lead me to my first fcar. I have dealt with Tyler also, and he did a great job with the sale. LFSC is a great place. I have been waiting for a week now, still don't have my car. The wait is painful... Suppose to arrive later this week. I can't wait.... I will post pictures when it arrives.
Dexter, congratulations! I hope you didn't take offense to my description of the car - its just how I saw it. I was trying very hard to convince myself to buy the red one, but I just didn't have the time to give it the love it needs. The price of the red 89' was pretty good also, and I hope your restoration goes great...enjoy!
bpu 699 no offense taken. Thanks for the info. on the car. It made me think harder before buying the car, I guess it just goes to show I really wanted the car at the end. Hope the car does not give me too much trouble, I'll let you know...
Congrats to both of these new purchases. I was fortunate enough to take delivery of my 1988.5 Testarossa - yellow w/ black interior - on Saturday. Bought it at Motor Cars International. It is an incredibly well preserved car. Only work I had done was to paint the front splitter, side running boards and rear bumper painted to match body color. Looks fantastic. Will post pictures as soon as I get them if anyone is interested. Traded my 328 for it. On the way home, I drove through the Ozark foot hills - incredible roads. The car has incredible power, handles very well and is actually quite comfortable. And of course that engine sound....I could go on and on. I look forward to sharing information
Happy for both of you. Makes me remember my first f car purchase 2 months ago. Now you probably wished you could eat, drink and sleep in it, right?

Please give one word of answer. non of those if you looking for this and that is better..explaining stuff....
STEVE THATS CORRECT, 77762 WAS MY OLD CAR......BUT, I NEVER HAD ISSUES WITH THE FRONT SPOILER, BACK VALANCE, AND SIDE SKIRTS,?? THE CAR IS AMAZING, IF YOU NEED ANY QUESTIONS TO BE ANSWERED ,CALL ME 888 882 6965....YOU HAVE A BEAUTY!! CONGRATS AND TAKE CARE OF HER!! BRUCE
There were no issues with these parts. I just wanted to have them painted the same color as the rest of the body. I had seen this done on a red TR and looked very nice. With this car being yellow, I think it looks absolutely stunning - makes it look quite a bit lower too. We finally have some nice weather today so I am going to play hookey and will get some pictures. Will then post them. It certainly is a fabulous automobile.
