What's the story with these? Do you think they would hold water?

I of course would never present them being that it is a Federal offense to do so. ;-)

 

Eric you know I carry my share of curtesy badges, more than once I have been questioned about them, officers name, precint, you better have the right anwsers too, one time I was told to get my buddy on my phone, thank god he picked up his cell, cause this Suffolk cop was pissed (driving my 328 at the time), he didnt exactly tell me to have a nice day, but I was on my way again, no worse for the wear.

 

Nothing in the presence of a cop that hates your guts. It is dependent on the police officer. Had some honor it and some that didn't. All depends on the cop and his mood.

 

Sounds like a Rene move. I remember he was telling me when he got pulled over once he asked the cop for a #1 with a coke when he came up to the car. Got guts!

Have you guys ever heard of "THE 100 CLUB".....they are an organization in many states, and cities that support families of policemen and firemen that i believe are lost or hurt in the line of duty. They are well respected amongst law enforcement since you are supporting them and there peeps...and their families in time of need. One of their stickers will have more "pull" than any PBA card unless you guys come across stamped metal family cards. You should look into it....usually donations come cheaper than one ticket, and the insurance repurcussions that follow. The only problem with this is that I cant seem to find local websites with info. I found the one for buffalo and west new york, but thats the closest I can find. Anybody else have any info on this organization and how we can donate?

 

The P.B.A. card could get you out of a ticket depending on the violation and the officer who stops you . if you get stop the first thing you do is give the officer your paper work and at the same time explain that you are sorry for the violation and present the p.b.a card and ask if he would please extend some courtesy to you and explaine you are good friends with the officer that gave you the card. DO NOT SAY TO MUCH BECAUSE THE OFFICER MIGHT HAV HIS MIKE AND VIDEO CAMERA ON INSIDE HIS POLICE CAR . and could get him in troulbe or the person that gave you the card. this could result in selective enforcement, there for some times he will issue the summons and tell you to have your police friend call him at the station. then work out the ticket. remember his supervisor will view the tapes at the end of tour.

This actually happened to me, but by accident. I was busted for some small infraction (63 in a 50 or something, actually I think someone called the cops to complain about me, 'cause my V1 never even chirped). When I presented the trooper my papers, I had a miniature NYPD badge clipped to the floder that the papers were in. I had actually completely forgotten that it was there.

the Trooper asked me where I had gotten it (at first I was like "Gotten What"?), I told him I had a friend in the NYPD and on the NY State Police (narcotics detective). He told me he had to write me a ticket, but to have my friend give him a call and we would work it out in court (wink, wink).

So I had my friend call, I showed up to court, the Trooper was a no-show, case closed.

 

I had an unusual experience. A family friend was a former cop in a small town in NJ. I got stopped right in that town so I thought I was home free with my PBA card. The cop looks at it, sneers and says, "oh, him...this means nothing to me" as he throws the card at me. I later learned our family friend was known as "a straight arrow" and not very popular.

 

I am a member of the 200 Club. We assist families of Troopers, Police, and Firemen who are hurt or killed in the line of duty. We pay for funeral expenses and assist in college and mortgages.

I also carry a STFA (State Trooper Fraternal Association) for NJ.

I also carry my Gold Shield from when I was a medic

I am also always polite and admit what I have done.

I know many of us have friends in various Law Enforcement agencies, however, please keep in mind that whenever we get pulled over for excessive speeds or driving styles, it's a poor reflection on the friend that gave you his/her PBA card, badge, etc.

I know that when we drove up and down NJ Tpke, a flood of complaints from motorists against us made our friend look real bad. Just my $0.02

Why don't you guys just start a EC fund. Put some $$ in it collectively, and have that money go to fallen officers and their families and for education of the kids of NYPD officers and stuff.

If you put enough money into that organization, you guys can have cards made, ,and when an EC peep contributes he gets the card. When you get pulled over, cops will see it, and most of the time will let you go.

Thus you are giving to a good cause, and not getting tickets as well. After a few years, it will be well established.

That is what the CA guys do with the 11-99 plates on their cars.

 

...and the reason you have this picture so handy is beyond me.
