wow - I never saw that thread before. Just spent abt 30mins reading every post. The update one describing the ambulance ride and the smell of burnt flesh gave me goosebumps!

OK - whos gonna man up and go the onboard suppression route?

 

Rehan... I just pulled the 2.5 can dimensions off the web:

15-1/2 inches tall
3 inches can diameter
5-1/2 depth with nozzle and bracket

I will double chk this though.

Were you considering either the 1.4 or 5.0 sizes too?

Thanks for bumping this up Vik. Ive been remiss with the followup. Problem is I hit a snag with the ordering. I was going use a local NJ company who quoted a great group price, but they refuse to ship due to hazmat issues. I havent figured a good way around this. I can easily drive and pick them up, but then I dont want to be responsible for shipping a dozen or so extinguishers myself either.

The alternative is a shop out on the weak coast who originally got me started on the group buy idea. I was just more comfortable spending our collective money locally in the event of a problem. I will qualify the weak coast shop one more time.

Mounts: I have not conferred with Emil, and Rehan didnt get back to me. Truthfully, I dont know what the mounting issue is... each can comes with a car mount bracket. It can be placed either parallel with the trans tunnel a-la Stradale, or perpendicular, on the passenger seat frame. If youre after the cloth sleeve like the CS, I know a great upholstery shop who can probably fabricate an alcantara suede one just like the CS.

Vik - I'll try to call you tmrw or Friday for your input. I still want an extinguisher, and Id like to make this work out well for all.

2.5 RED cans are $79 each
2.5 CHROME cans $104 each

Shipping is included if we have at least 10 units ordered (thats a big deal considering these are hazmat items). The company is in CA... you simply call up individually, pay via CC, and it will be shipped directly to you. A 5lb size can is also available, but I didnt verify best pricing for that unit.

Awwe crap - I just spoke to the CA guy and he just realized the hazmat fee... its gonna tack on an extra $20 per unit - thats what UPS an Fed Ex charge him.

Not sure how Im gonna proceed now. I can probably drop ship the majority of order to my house, and hand them out when I see you guys. But I dont know how that will play out for far-away guys like Jay, Hutch, and Monk. Or maybe he $20 isnt a big deal for you guys. I was just trying to get the best possibly deal.

Im open to opinions and suggests at this point. LMK.
