I thought Antonio did pretty well in the races this year - particularly Spa where he was third till his car expired. I think he was way too wild and wayward in 2003 but he might settle down and improve.

There have been other wild men in their youth who settled down and raced well a few years down the line. I can think of Jody Schecter as a possible example - but need confirmation from the wise men about this - PsK, tifosi, et all

    Wise man? Uh, oh. Blushing.

Honestly I was never much a fan of Scheckter. You're right, he improved over time and I think was mostly lucky to sit in the right car at the right time and have a disciplined #2 driver who could have easily snatched the title from him if he wanted to.

But your point is well taken. A more recent example would be Ralf: He destroyed car after car while at Jordan and only in the last few years matured. Actually matured straight into boredom...

Prost is a perfect example. Destroyed a McLaren in one of his first test opportunities ... and McLaren were definitely not interested, but a few years later their arms were ready for the make-up hug ;)

Schecter though, I think was an irratic performer ... bit like Berger. If they wake up feeling great about life and racing (and the moon is in the right place) they are extremely fast ... other times, might as well be sitting on a beach.

Yes agree, Tifosi12 that is quite honestly the best and most accurate sum up of RS ever written.

Good drivers mature in to fast and consistent drivers, ones that have not quite got it mature into slower drivers, because the irraticness/accidents came from pushing their limits. Again drivers like MS just get better at sitting on the limit.

    ... OOPS!,
Hmmm, while I appreciate they were probably doing different things ... I bet MW is not happy about this.

Also DC tested a Red Bull today ... I guess he should have been flying :D

All you anti-MW guys are killing me! I am reading this stuff and wondering if any of you have been watching F1 in the last few years! WHat more does this guy have to do? He has absolutely killed every 'mate he's had and what I really like about the guy is that he doesn't puke up all that lookatme, seehowgreatIam, ImagonnabeatMSbecausehesucks, etc., etc. like we hear from Montoya every year. MW does his talking on the track, and that is the only place it counts. His race results? Hell, he has had to pedal the POS's he's driven around the track and has embarrassed many of the big boys. Not proven? What planet have you been visiting for the past few years?

Lopealong prediction: MW wins, yes that means more than one - in 05.

Webber is no slouch. I think he's like Danmon Hill, and that's good enough to win the champioship, but he's just not aggressive or exciting enough.

And as for killing his teammates...well Klien out qualified him twice, and Klien IS a slouch.....

I think Pizza boy will show Webber the way around for the most of qualifying. But I do think Webber will do better in the races.

You'd think having naming rights sponsorship from an out of date carburettor company would be a bit of a handicap for a driver though.......

    Good choice!

I used to laugh at the X1-9 my friend had back in college. My Honda was so much cooler. Now in hindsight I have to say he was all the wiser driving a real Bertone design. Those cars were fun and somewhat timeless.

What F1 have you been watching?

Did you not remember the race where he had to pit early or something and then stormed back up through the grid ... his pass on RS was so 'get out of your way' aggressive that RS was made to look the complete d!ckhead he really is ... and that was a Jaguar passing a Williams!!

MW is very aggressive and the many years in single seater classes means that he knows how to race ... all the new boys like Pizza, Klien, etc. have not had enough RACE experience as thus all they are is fast lappers.

Again that proves my belief that all F1 drivers need to go through the correct channels before getting a Super licence ... and that the main problem with F1 at the moment is lack of RACE driver talent. Kimi started this, then Button and they are very fast, but are not racers to the same degree to guys that have had to race hard for many, many seasons to get to the top ... it was just race teams trying to save money, thus they chose a race virgin before he was worth anything, OR before the talent had really showed itself. Kimi and possibly Button are the only ones that have shown any real ability ... but not enough yet to make me fully believe that they have it like MW has (yes Kimi is faster, but put MW in the same car and I BELIEVE he would race better), the others like Klien, Pizza, Trulli, Fisi, Alonso (yep) just go around and around and around waiting for somebody to fail.

We will see, but the thing I can 100% guarantee is that MW will work his butt off to make every single year he is in F1 as much of a success as he can ... that is the Australasian way ... the European drivers will be in the bars trying to see how many sperm they can dispatch, and that is just pathetic, when F1 is far, far, bloody miles far more important than that!

I'll let Katie Price know not to even bother with Webber then.
    :)

PS: You wonder what F1 we've been watching whereas I wondered once what F1 you've been watching in regards to the Sauber. I guess we all have our favourites to focus on and are surprised others don't share the same enthusiasm. The front might be red, but behind it the colors start to blur.

Yep ... MW is actually involved with his manager.

And yes good point about Sauber, etc. :). I'm not sure why I don't feel anything towards the Sauber team ... maybe I'm a heritage snob ;), or just lack knowledge of their operation.

Pete, I think Andreas was directing that towards me. And all I did was make one little comment on another post about how Sauber had improved and with the new wind tunnel I thought they would do extreemly well and challenge some of the big boys. Sheesh! You would have thought I said Montoya sucked! Oh, wait a minute.....
