I have made a number of small keys to fit various old locks. If anyone can post a close up picture of the key with a ruler or coin nearby to set the scale I will be glad to try. I can test the result on my 328.

Tom, thanks for trying. I knew it wasn't an ordinary key when I saw it.

Ric, thanks also for trying. I hope that someone will post a pic.

Thanks for the pic..... I took a good look at my lock and the key pictured above would not work. I have a very strange lock with two small round holes about 2 millimeters apart. The key end must be very small indeed and is shaped like two small round cylinders. I suspect a luggage store might have something like this. I'll have to try to check this avenue out and see how lucky I can get.

I wonder if the difference is due to year of manufacture, the fact that it's a Euro car or some other reason? Anyone know?

Two holes doesn't sound like a 'key' at all, we use tamper proof fasteners in Prisons with that 'snake bite' pattern on the heads...I mean it's a special tool but not a key in the conventional sense.....

No Ferrari Part ?????, that doesn't sound right either, call Russ at Ferrari of Houston

I have had luggage sets for my 328, 348, TR and my current Boxer and never paid more than $1400 for a set. You need to run "luggage wanted" ads in the FML and FCA Newsletter and you will be surprised how many responses you will get. That's how I got all of my sets.

Re: the key pics Tom posted, they don't ring a bell. The key I saw had a square cut with two tiny prongs, as decribed by Brandon. Haven't checked the Owner's Site yet for a part number. I'll also check my parts manual.

    Hey Ric,

Mine is a '86 328 as well (Euro version born in October 1985) #60121

Funny thing though is that my buddy who has a '89 328 GTB (#89206) also has the two tiny holes for a locking mechanism.

Strange thing with that key, huh?

If anyone can post a scan or close-up photo of the two-pronged key with a ruler or coin to set the scale I can probably fabricate several easily. Also please indicate the surface finish, shiny, nickel, brass, etc.

This is a bit odd. I guess I'm the one with the different key. I wonder why? It certainly doesn't seem to be a replacement. The only difference with my '88 is that it has the optional interior. You know, the dash and arm rests are the same colour as the seats. Would they have used different locks and keys in one production run?

My 88 GTB has the 2 pronged lock too. Does anyone have a copy to scan in this thread?

    thanks,

    Dan
