    So If someone hates the USA they are "ignorant"? So no enlightened person in the world dislikes America? You can do no wrong? < This is my only issue with Americans. The ONLY one. You tend to defend yourselves with the phrase "we are the best in the world and no one has a right to dislike us". I don't know if I have ever heard a heartfelt "sorry" from an American. You guys just don't appear to be completly open to any voice other than another American's. If this changes and you guys learn from this mistake, then you will be able to set a very high bar for the rest of the world. It will of course take many decades and a whole restructuring of your education system as a WHOLE < {tough task even for an entire state}. And the White House will have to allow it, fund it and guide it. < {toughest part of all}

I am dead serious. If this so called "brainwashing" can be stoped, then 300M minds can work on a problem that needs fixing.

I know many British and most of them aren't for America, they just don't run off at the mouth about it as much as other nations. The are nearly 100% against the war and blame the US for starting it and pushing Blair into it as well. The Brits have this thing about not starting trouble and Blair threw that out the window. Also they won't be as vocal about their mindset because it wouldn't be helpful to start a b itching match with someone. Maybe in another 200 years the Canadians will have more of this mindset and use their energy to change instead of talk.

I grew up in Detroit, which is only a river-width away from Canada, and it always amused me how we ignored their presence. For example, the Detroit TV stations NEVER report anything happening in Canada, despite the fact that Windsor, Ontario is in their viewing area. In the days before cable Windsor only had one station of their own and they got the rest of their TV from Detroit stations. Imagine the subconscious sense of inferiority that must instill in people.

The big thing to do in Detroit is to take visitors to Canada. The Tunnel Barbecue is a famous restaurant that is located near the Canadian side of the Detroit-Windsor tunnel. Taking your relatives to Canada consisted of going through the tunnel, driving 500 or 1000 feet to the Tunnel Barbecue for lunch, and turning around and returning to Detroit. A thousand feet! That's not the way to see a country!

Windsor finally figured out how to get Americans to spend money in their city by introducing casino gambling and relaxing the 'dress code' in their titty bars. Detroit countered by introducing their own casinos, but Windsor still has a lock on female (and male) nudity.

We are really screwing up by ignoring Canada, just as they are hurting themselves by holding a grudge against us. I understand their anger. Ninety percent of Canadians live within 35 miles of the American border. Move the border a few miles north and what's left?

I, for one, applaud the Canadians for their help in Iraq, and I hope we can find a way to co-exist. We need to see Canada as more than a place for sinful pleasure and low cost lasik surgery.

canada and canadians are fine. i've been there and liked it. i have lots of canadian friends.

but if you think WE should emulate YOU and YOUR systems, then you are mistaken.
we will muddle through with our poor education system and our non-existent healthcare system, and still come out on top. we always have.

I for one would like to come out on top of the hot blond Fox mouthpiece...must have watched that 10 times. Rather than gazing at each other across the border and worrying about who's on top...that is a matter of simple geography...I think that our two nations, joined at the hip as we are, should really be watching China and Europe as they are poised to kick both our rears and catch us while we are bent over watching each other.

Let's have a group hug and start paying attention outside the backyard...

I love the US and the Americans that I have met are very nice thats for sure... But there are also many which I've met when traveling that are ignorant when looking at the rest of the world... A small detail I've noticed is in our educational system...we're required to learn about the rest of the world before we learn about our own country. And in the US you are required to learn about your country and learning about the rest of the world is optional. I dont know if this is true for all states however. I like to think of Canada as a humble little cottege with a simple garden and the US would be a large castle decorated with gothic statues. But regardless I think both countries need each other.

Bush was freely elected President, twice. The last election he received a majority vote. How you define this as a dictatorship I dont know. I suspect you know better, but in your hatred of America you ignore this and spew at the mouth. Most of us LIKE Bush because he is a straight shooter (except fiscally... but what politician is?) and he goes after bad guys with both barrells loaded.

I dont hear Americans moaning too much about Canada. I seriously doubt if more than 20% of Americans could even tell you what Canadas position relative to our invasion in Iraq is. The overwhelming majority of Americans could care less about Canada. They see it as that mostly frozen place above the US where hockey is popular and thats about it. So if you think Americans are all in a hissy fit over some Canadian political position.... think again. We dont care.

Oh, and to the point about there being nothing we can do about it. That is incorrect. There is nothing we would WANT to do about it because we do not care and most wouldnt even know what your talking about. But... if Canada ever did manage to do something that REALLY pissed off the US and got the general public angry rest assured we most certainly COULD do something about it. Like.... whatever we wanted.

The world does not hate America. Nations that have made lots of money trading with our enemies like France, Germany and Russia do seem to have a political problem with the US. Oh well.... screw them. Plenty of other nations like Italy, Japan, Australia, most South and Central American Govt.s and many others like America as much as they ever did. Nations like Kuwait know what America is all about.

I would wear my USA t-shirt anywhere in the world I want to go. Of coarse that does not mean France because I wouldnt go there any more than I would go to Iran. I dont spend my tourist dollar in enemy nations. Anywhere I do go, if someone has a problem with me because I am an American..... bring it on. That is one thing I dont have a problem fighting about.

Umm..it was not directed at you. So don't worry about it. I don't hate America..I hate American's who think they are better then everyone else becuase they have a few ships in the harbour. It's fine to love your country..and I'm glad you do..BUT the rest of the world does not have to agree with it. I have seen a fair amount of Canada bashing in this site..heck I join in sometimes..but God forbid anybody says anything about the US.

I the meantime I will sit back and have some Canadian beer and smoke some Canadian cigarettes, and have some Canadian Bacon...while you watch NASCAR and eat GUMBO.

Damn it..I forgot to feed the sled dogs and the igloo needs a new roof..off the north pole I go...now were are my snow shoes...ah..the hell with it..I'll just drive..:)

Why are the French the enemy? For dealing with a country? I never knew Iraq was the enemy... I thought it was the rebel groups and terrorists... Bush won't deal with them directly, he'll just take their oil. :)

France had $ Billions of under the table dealings going on with Saddam. During the UN embargoes, they did quite a nice little trade with Saddam and his regime including selling them prohibited arms and participating in illegal oil trading that saw millions in "oil vouchers" making their way to French Govt. officials. This was the why behind the French resistance to ousting Saddam. Where have you been the last couple of years?

France opposes the US every chance they get on pretty much ever issue that comes before the US Security council. When a nation opposes you at every turn... the term enemy becomes valid.

I consider France an enemy of the USA. I dont expect a shooting war is in the future or anything like that but to view France as an ally of the US is to simply ignore a changed world.

Oh, please provide evidence of Bush stealing Iraqi oil. I keep hearing that the whole Iraq thing was just about stealing Iraqi oil.... except now that we control Iraq we are not taking the oil. Isnt that like breaking into a bank vault and then leaving all the money behind? Doesnt make much sense does it?

France and many other countries had deals going on with Iraq. And obviously they did not want a regime change, because everything would have to be started from scratch again. Of course, these deals were ridiculously profitable for Saddam, but also for the citizens. Even the US had deals with Iraq! Back in the Iraq/Iran war, Rumsfeld shook hands with Saddam! Who do you think bought the smuggled oil? American companies bought it too!

France opposes the US because they represent Europe (along with the UK) and often European views differ from american ones, especially the last american gvt. And it goes both ways. US also opposes french proposals! And no one's right or wrong, just different views, and that's what the UN is for! Compromise. No one wants a McDonalds at every street corner in Tibet, nor does anyone want french wine and baguette all over the place!

The arrogance you show here seems general among the current administration, and is a reason for the major 9-11 failure. Both Tsahal (Israeli army) and DST (french secret services) - arguably the 2 best secret services in the world- warned the US of possible attacks. The US considered they didn't need help. Booom. This is why one should not be too quick to judge those who disagree with them "enemies".

Damn. Now this thread will disappear in Politics and Religion. LOL

Back to the blond...I think I have a chance as she only wants the right wingers from Western Canada and the cowboys from Alberta...born in Alberta and I'm right about everything....I actually heard what she was saying the 22nd time I watched it and I stopped staring at her finest assets.

She just needs some good old fashioned Canadian beaver taming...

Everyone relax and take the jokes eh? I think they are funny as hell. When you really piss us off you will know because California and the East Coast will go to black out and the water will stop flowing. Invade a wonderful democratic country? What are you looking for? Socialists of mass destruction?
You can have Ottawa and that's it...just watch out for the Liberals who are on the take...very dangerous people.

Canada has a history of allowing the military to dwindle and rust but our history of mobilization into the fine forces of the first and second world war, korea and the Nato brigades of the 1950's warrant a mention for those who were sleeping in history class. Our policy of defence is thus...Attack our North (as we expected Russians) and we just won't rescue you...come from the south and you have no chance because our border guards would just seize your guns(but it's my right to carry a gun! Some great border/gun stories in the media these days) come from the west coast and you will find so many armed Canadians jacked on starbucks and running pot south that you'll end up back in Seattle...come from the East coast and well...can you even find it on a map? I think we are safe for the time being.

And for the war on terror, I believe our Regiment that holds a U.S Presidential Unit Citation (Korea) by the way, faired quite well and there is probably not a single Infantryman in the U.S military that does not know some detail of our snipers performance under arduous conditions as they overwatched U.S units in combat.

And for you Canadians slamming the States...shut your pie holes and look around...have some respect...personal opinions are a democratic right but please extend some basic respect to the office of President and to the country as a whole. Canada has nothing to be arrogant about and you embarrass the rest of us. Besides, your killing my chances with that hot rod blond mouthpiece...the Fox on Fox.
