Pavesi in Italy did some targa versions of the Pantera for DeTomaso. They look sharp, but are very rare.

Guys have put just about everything in those cars, with Chevy's been the most popular swap. There are even Hemi Panteras: http://hem.passagen.se/hemipanter/

So you are doing the mods and then selling the car? or are you not going to sell it at all?

I just couldn't sell it. Unless things change radically, it's staying here.

I am actually glad you are keeping it Tillman. You and your Ferrari are a great inspiration (Even if you don't want to admit it) :)

your car is so classy as it is. I can tolerate the painted top and even the GTB louvers (barely), but the wheels I can't pretend I like.

Wow Jim, it's so nice you can 'tolerate' a painted top! :)

I just mean I think the 328 is perfect as is. It just seems to be the perfect car to look good in for the money. Nobody asks how fast it is or how much it costs. It is just a very classy ferrari...nuff said.

    The spoiler remains for now.

I like Jim's smoothed spoiler, but I still think that eventually I want the thing removed. One (or two) mods at a time, though.

I only asked because in your mock-up, it's missing.

I also didn't notice it until I was looking at pics of other 328's and say one with a body colored spoiler (euro?) Started to toy with your pics in pshop and thats when I noticed... now looking at it, how di we all miss it? :)

In the limited info I found on 328 spoilers (maybe there was more in the old forum, couldn't look) I understand them to have at least a little aerodynamic purpose with regard to airflow in the engine compartment. Does removing the spoiler have any adverse effects?

Jim, is your spoiler smoothed and painted body color or just smoothed and painted black? I can't recall.

I've always liked the early cars and their smooth lines. The silver car below was on my desktop for years. You can kind of see that's where I'm headed with my GTS.

Here's a pic of a 79 GTS in Grigio, so you can see what it will look like without a spoiler.

I haven't made that change yet because it's harder to return to stock.

Jim's is smoothed and painted black. I believe the later GTBs also had a smooth spoiler from the factory

That euro 308 looks great. I see what you all mean by the smoother lines.

FWIW, I intensely dislike the 'textured' surface of the spoiler and top. I've never understood why they did that. To me, it looks like a vinyl top. That being said, I can also understand the logic of keeping it stock. I never had to make that decision, my car had a painted top and spoiler when I bought it.

I agree...plus, the 328 wheels help too. I can't stand the DOT bumpers on the U.S. cars.

How are the spoilers affixed... a couple bolts on each side?

    :)

Yeah, after I posted it I noticed that curtain too , and realized it had to be at a pro facility and not in his garage :)

Looks good! How many stages of paint?

I'm not certain. It was sanded and sealed(?) and primed, then several coats, then sanded smooth again, then sealed, then several coats on top of that, plus clear, plus something?

I wasn't too clear on the whole process, but the finished product looks good. The metalflake was hard to match, and the car itself isn't quite the stock color due to previous paint work, so it took some time to match it.

I should have it back tomorrow AM :)
