    Marc,
    back topic:
Will we stay for the whole trip in 1 Hotel?
    That would be fine.
County hotel in a smal typical scotish village seems to be highly appreciated from everybody.
How far away is the Hotel from "Nessie"? Hope we will drive to the Loch Ness?
Whats up with the whiskey distilleries in the highlands? Do you think we can get a factory visit of 1 or 2 of them?

It is not feasible to stay in one hotel if we want to see a reasonable amount of what Scotland has to offer - it's too big! I am planning a two leg tour, the first two nights based around the Edinburgh area the following two based in the highlands. And a distillery is definately on the list! (but we won't be driving there!)

I have a very good plan of what I want to do, where I want to stay, and the routes in between. Need to firm up accomodation and the exact routes which I will be doing with the help of the Scottish tourist board later today hopefully.

I expect to have a very good outline of the proposed rallye structure and costings by early Jan, at which stage we will start to get a true participants list together. In my head this is already an epic trip!

This will also provide a distinct fresh starting point for activities and costings for anyone who can only make the weekend (Fri eve - Sunday) rather than the whole Wed - Sunday bash - thinking really of UK people here who can't commit to the time off work.

for me the 2leg strategy sounds attractive, as long as these legs are on the countryside.

I reckon it's been ages since she came face to face with another beast
(not saying whether the beast is Wolfgang himself or his car!)

People will take a picture of Wolfgang at the lake and sell it to the newspapers as a picture of Nessie!
