51k. I'm glad to see that people are enjoying their cars. I too believe milage is not a big deal as long as the car has been maintained properly and is in good shape. Miles are just a number.

22k on a 91' 348. Arrive to me in Sept with 20k. I plan to drive the crap out of it. I put the 2k miles on it in two months. Last month and change it has not been driven, still getting that clutch put in and doing all the other projects simultaneously...But when its back together...can you say...

    Road trip...

Bought my TR several months ago with 2,500 miles on it. I just passed 5,000 the other day. Looking forward to bringing it out of Garage Queen status.

2500 miles when you bought it?

Amazing, its like you bought a BRAND NEW Testarossa. To think that someone paid close to $200K for your TR when it was new, and then saved it in perfect condition (while absorbing all of the depreciation) just for you! I do admire your style, doubling the mileage in a few short months, that took the previous owner 14 years to accumulate.

If I owned a Museum piece like that, I would almost feel guilty to drive the car. It may sound quite stupid, and it was said here "Drive it, or Sell it", but to own such a perfect example of a significant automobile is something in itself. The car can never get those miles back, and it will never again be the 2500 mile car that it was.

The bottom line is that you own the car, and you bought it to enjoy it. I have total respect for that attitude. Perhaps working at a car museum when I was younger may have warped my views about the enjoyment that can be had in actually driving these machines, rather than just collecting and preserving them.

I have the window sticker for the car - It was "only" $135k. :) I think the later TR's sometime around the 512TR cost closer to $200k. MSRP anyway - I don't know if people were paying premiums back then.

It's funny you say that about feeling guilty - The 2nd owner had the car for 3 years before I bought it from him. He did say he felt guilty driving it and only took it out on special occasions... He was also selling the car to a friend to put in a museum - Luckily he sold it to me instead.

In any case it was nice to get a car in such good shape that was just begging to be enjoyed.

Just broke through 60K last month. Bought it 4/00 w/ 47K. Has been rock solid and only had 2 previous owners. 2nd owner had it from 1985 when the original owner bought a new TR, when they came out.

I've said it mant times before, it is in better condition than those I see which show less then 1/2 the mileage. Has original paint- yeah some tiny nicks in the nose from pebbles - can't be avoided when you drive em - and perfect original interior - except for some very minor bolster wear (need to do the leatherique treatment this winter). Bolster wear only because I was not using the original seat covers, which came w/ the car.

Enjoy them, they were meant to be driven!!! Many here are of the same thought.

Just turned 27K, got the car with 22.5K in '01.

Hey Dave, I had bolster wear on my car also, used Leatherique dye with a dry brush technique and the results were amazing. The touched up areas blend in perfectly, even though the rest of my interior is slightly faded. The trick is numerous light coats until you get the right shade.

Been meaning to call you re: your BMW friend; will give you a ring after the new year. Have a great Holiday!

13,000 or so now but will have 25k by the end of this next summer! Bought it to drive. But, we all buy them for different reasons. I'm sure we all love them just the same! Intresting thread.

    Happy Holidays!
