I am aware of that, I wasnt being literal. I simply meant that the just under 40k I spent on the car (more than that with the goodies) I could have easily purchased a used caddy and a used f-car. That's all.

And you are a doctor, make the pain go away!

Just a loaded 2003 325ci. KBB puts the value at just over 33k, and that is excluding the goodies that arent worth taking out of the car. If I were to trade it in, Id be sitting at just about 29k. I had an offer from Lincoln for 32k when I was considering an Navigator. If I decide to go for another BMW when I get rid of it, they will likely give me closer to the retail value for the car.

Carmax offered me 32.5k 4 months ago.

KBB shows it at $25k for me. (10,000 miles , excellent condition) How many miles? if you can get $32k you are totally GOLDEN!

KBB showed me much more than that just 2 hours ago. 15,000 miles total. KBB is really moot anyway since it is what the dealerships say that matters. Ive tried using KBB to get leverage and it doesnt work. I dont think Ill get even 30k when it comes time to get rid of the car, but Ill make some money, which is good enough for me!

Dealers will only give you wholesale. Never retail

Another difficulty you might run into is that, in 3 months, we're well into the 2005 model year. 4 months ago, the 04 model year was just coming to a close... I know carmax will make you a cash offer, it would be interesting to know what their offer would be today, if it changes, and what their offer would be in 3 months.

Im quite aware of how dealers work. In general auction value is what is given for a trade in unless the dealership intends on keeping the car on the lot. Then they will give you more, sometimes. The numbers I posted were offers made on the car, and they are significantly higher than wholesale.

no doubt it will go down. Im expecting high 20s. Which is still good.

I have had good luck with all my leased cars. The only one I had a real problem with was the Escalade. I bought it in 2000 and failed to do enough research, and the dealer failed to tell me that in 8 months a new body style/motor/etc would be released. I went from owning a 55k car to a car that could be bought on a used lot for 26k. I was less than happy. I got really screwed when it got stolen and I was stuck with a several thousand dollar bill. Especially considering that the DAY it was stolen, I got a letter from OnStar saying that there was a problem with the theft tracking system and it needed to be taken in for recall service to correct the issue.

Yeah well, I huffed and I puffed and they refused to cover the difference. I thought it was pretty ****ty of them. Perhaps I have legal recourse though. Art, any thoughts? (or any other of our lawyers)

First the cataclysms on the other side of the planet, the rampant violence around the world, and now this? All we have left is for Bush to pronounce Nuclear correctly and then Christ will come.

    :)

I hope it is safe to say the hatchet has been buried.

    MEMO TO BRUCE:
I COMMEND YOU FOR YOUR VALIANT EFFORT!

HOWEVER, THE NEW YEAR STARTS THIS WEEKEND!

RESOLUTIONS ARE SUPPOSED TO START “AFTER” THE NEW YEAR NOT BEFORE.
