    Hi guys,
I have a 78 308 with one of those ridiculous single stick thingies to prop up the rear lid when opened. The newer ones have the dual strut set up and I have heard that there are conversion kits available to change that. Does anybody know where those kits might be available?

    Thanks,
    Helmut

that's very interesting how you did that. Do you by any chance have more of a wideshot; does it look pretty original?

    Thanks for the reply!

At first glance it'll look pretty close to the newer cars. On closer look the OEM struts use yoke with a pin thru it instead of a ball tipped peg to mount the strut to the main body.

BTW, I'd like to get all the pieces to go the other way. I 'm constantly under my bonnet twiddling this 'n that, and would love to have those struts out of my way.

Anyone want to get rid of an early 308 center post, slide channel & the cable retractor?

like Verell states, it's a little different to the original version, but a very good compromise I think for someone who's not totally keen on originality.
A conversion to the genuine design of the later cars would require fabricating the yoke as well as welding it onto the frame.

    Best Regards

    Martin

I just went by Pep Boys and each of the struts are $19.99 and include all of the hardware. To the general public, I'm sure they think it is original, but to us anal Ferrari guys it obviously is not. One of the main reasons I did not go original was I did not want to deal with the welding. If I didn't like my setup, then I'd just have a few small holes. Here's some more pix.

    Steve,
    See thread:
"Found on-line source for Sachs gas struts for Ferraris (engine lid, trunk, etc.)
    davehanda "

    http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=23058&highlight=strut

Just posted the SACHS p/n there to keep everything in one place.

Same as original except does not have the Ferrari logo. Last I heard even the F logo ones were NLA.

I kind of like the single stick but am missing the cable and spring unit. If any of you guys who do the swap want to get rid of one please drop me a line.

    Thanks,
    John
