As I was working on the 308 today I remembered that there are lots of people here re-building thier suspensions this winter. Some may finish before me and I wanted to post the reminder to pre-load the suspension before tightening the bushings. This is a simple task to overlook but will ensure that the bushings work as they were designed. If you do not know what I am talking about follow these steps:

    1. Re-build the entire suspension leaving the bolts that go to the suspension bushings loose.

    2. Once assembled, place a jack under the outer wheel spindle (on the brake disk with a block of wood is fine) and jack the suspension until the car is almost being lifted off of the jack stands. This will mimick the correct height when the car is resting.

    3. Tighten all of the bolts to the correct torque and you are done.
