Stock Shift Knob Not Up To Ferrari Standard? Replacement?

    Man, when I got my 328 a few months ago, I looked at the stock black plastic knob w/ red-orangey shift pattern print & immediately said, “HOW TACKY”! I couldn’t stand it so ordered a black carbon fiber knob & a polished AL w/ the Ferrari gear pattern engraved. Ended up liking the cf & installed it. Have you replaced your Ferrari shift knob?

    That carbon fiber reminds me of one time that I saw a F50 shifter knob for sale at Ferrari of Denver. I think the price was some where around $500!

    I replace mine also with the aluminum version. Much better. I made sure to keep the original, somewhere;), just in case...

    I really like the CF knob. The OE F50 knob is CF with a polished aluminum ring around the beltline of the ball. I seen it on someone's 550 here. Will post a pic when I get home tonight.

    I can't remember how much I paid for my cf knob, but it was inder $100 I think & from a F Club member.

    Did the same on my 328, aluminum shift knob and Hill shift gate...but got a 355, and guess what? Comes with an aluminum knob! ;)

    I reckon if you own a classic to vintage Ferrari you should have an aluminium gearknob and if you have a modern Ferrari go for a carbon fibre knob, otherwise it doesn't look right. Check out my classic car below....

    I think in 1989, the year of my 328, carbon fiber existed. It may have only been used on the space shuttle, but that makes it fair game in my book. All my cars are modified: 72 Datsun 240Z w/ 350V8, 81 RX7 w/ SP 13B & IMSA body, 96 Miata JR supercharged. I just have to make it “my own” in some way.

    I installed a polished aluminum shift knob from Hill Engineering last night. It looks GREAT. It was inexpensive too. Tonight I plan on getting started on the aluminum pedal install.

    Having fairly large hands, I opted for the larger diameter polished aluminum as well. The tactile improvement is great over the smaller black stock piece, and more fun.

    Replaced OEM aluminum knob with CF on my 550. Stick feels lighter when shifting. And during cold days, knob feels warmer to the touch. Got mine CF knob from Garapan in Japan.
