After a little bit of searching, I found that it is possible to buy this battery in Holland. The price in the US is around $120 (including shipping within the US), the price here in Holland is 240 Euros ($320.00 !!!!) Is it really such a good battery to justify these costs, and does it bolt right into a 308?(i.e. are the dimensions of the base such that I don't need extra templates or adapters, it looks so small!)
Are there good alternatives from say Varta or other brands available on the European market? Thanks, Mick

Mick, it is a good battery, but not THAT good. It should bolt right up, as it is the exact size requirement for the car. But I would just find a suitable alternative locally. Here in the USA, there are excellent "standard" type batteries such as the Interstate brand size 34R that can be easily purchased for around $75. You have to periodically add water compared to the sealed Optima though.

    Hi Mick,
Sounds like it would be cheaper to buy an Optima here in the US and have it shipped.

I use an Optima red top 75/35 in my 308 and had to do some adapting at the base because it is slightly smaller than the original. The posts on top are placed so you can reverse the battery position to suit the cable layout. Cost; 119.00 USD.

That said, I will NEVER install another (wet) lead acid battery in any of my vehicles. When they malfuction or leak they cause a mess as well as serious damage!
