I've been sitting here in front of my computer all morning trying to figure out how to announce this. It's probably the saddest day in my life. As I have to announce that my best friend and fellow ferraristi Henry Tran passed away last night. In October Henry called me up and told me that he wasn't feeling well. A week later he told me that he had been diagnosed with liver cancer and told that he would have less than a year to live.

That is why our Stockton Ferrari group has been so quiet these past months.

You could just imagine how that news hit us all. Especially his wife Stephanie and their 3 children, Our Stockton Ferrari group etc. and everyone who loved him. We all found out the news of his passing this morning. Henry Tran will surely be missed. He was a gentleman and a true class act. The world has truely lost a good man in Henry Tran. I have lost a true friend....

What a terrible shame! Henry was a true gentleman, and I greatly enjoyed several conversations with him at Ferrari outings. My sincere condolences to his family and friends. He'll be sorely missed.

Henry was truely a first-class guy. I was fortunate enough to meet him this past summer and he always had a smile on his face. He was one who defined the phrase "living life to it's fullest"! God be with his family.

My sincere condolences to Henry's family and loved ones.

I had only met Henry a few times, and briefly, but his demeanor stood out amongst the crowd - as has been mentioned repeatedly (and rightly so), Henry was a true class act, a wonderful person to be around.

Ron: if there is anything we can do for Henry's family, please let us all know.

    He will be missed.

    Ron,

I had a thought. Perhaps, and you'd have to direct us here, we could setup a charity and drive in Henry's name?

Norman and I have been tossing the idea around sometime about a charity event, either annually or something else, where we could either sponsor rides for kids (make-a-wish, etc), or have car-shows where the proceeds went to charity, etc.

We really could get this off the ground, and name it after Henry if you feel it would be in his honor and spirit.

    Thoughts?

    --Dan

In the short time I new him I came to consider him a friend. He was one of the most upbeat, and generous people I have ever known. In my last phone conversation with him he tried to cheer me up by jokingly bragging that he had retired at 41. I will miss him.

To my dear friend... I will miss you terribly.
I knew about his condition, and had prepared for it emotionally the past few months, but when Ron let me know this morning, it took all I could to restrain all the outpouring of grief. I was extremely sad to find out that Henry had passed (Thank you for the phone call, Ron). I thought that we would still have had some time to share this year, and I was looking very forward to having him as my future neighbor in Pleasanton. After his initial treatment in SoCal, we had planned to do as much driving as was possible. It came as a complete shock that he had passed away today. He will always have a place in my heart. My thoughts go out to Stephanie and the kids.

As mentioned in the phone conversations Ron and I have had today, I will get into contact with his family to find out what funeral arrangements have been made, and I'll let you all know as soon I get the details. Unfortunately, his mother has not been answering the phone.

I think a drive/charity event is a wonderful tribute to a person who enriched our lives with his friendship and humanity. A charity event is very fitting for a man who was such a charitable and giving person. Thank you for the suggestion Dan.

Throughout all this, we have to acknowledge the gift that he provided us... the notion that we really must take each day as if it were our last. Henry lived it as such, and it is something we should take into our own. Henry had wanted it this way, and I intend to embrace and pass it along.

    Most Solemn Regards,
    Joon Lee

Sounds like a good idea Dan. Our Stockton group was thinking about something along those same lines as well. As soon as we get more information we'll try to coordinate this. I'll be posting funeral arrangements as soon as I get them also.

    Ron,

Thanks for the call this morning. Especially given the difficult circumstances.

I would also like to convey heartfelt sympathy and condolences to Henry's wife and family. I was fortunate to have had the opportunity to meet Henry last year and immediately found him to be a thoughtful and generous man. The world could use more people like Henry. I know he will be missed.

How about setting up a trust for the kids that people could donate to? Earlier last year, a good friend and colleague passed away suddenly, leaving his wife and 12 year old son...we set up a trust for the son with the wife as trustee.

    Best Regards,
    -- Rick --

He chose good friends, and you are all blessed to have known him personally. Grieve as you must, console and take solace in your companions, friends and family, but above all, take the legacy that was readily apparent even in his posts I was fortunate to see across the miles; live life on the upbeat, and pay that gift forward.

Ron: my condolences to his family as well as to you and all your friends. I had only met Henry twice but he was such a fantastic guy and ever so friendly. I had hoped to see him and the rest of the Stockton group soon.

It unfortunate that cancer should take a person so young and so quickly; I just found out last night that another long time friend of mine just passed away from cancer; he had been diagnosed in August but had kept it to himself.

Ron, take care and I hope to see you all again soon.

This just absolutely kills me. I just had lunch with him only a few weeks ago. My prayers go out to him and his family.

A great man taken down by a tragic disease he had no control over.

One thing is for sure, I'm damn glad I got to meet him.
