I bought an X-Pipe from Stebro for my 550 about two months ago ..... delivery was quick and as promised ... cost just under $ 600. I already had Tubi's .... the X-pipe really made a nice difference to the exhaust note ...... I'd rate Stebro an A+ ...... the same X-Pipe from Tubi is around $ 2k.

    Ria,

What exactly did you get? Was it the whole exhaust from the cats back? If so that seems to be a pretty good price. What did you have on there to begin with and how much of a difference do you think it made? Sorry, a lot of questions all at once, but this is one upgrade I'm toying with and I haven't heard much about Stebro for 308's.

    Thanks,

    John

Stebro's pipe isn't just a straight through pipe, but has a small expansion chamber with a baffle and stainless steel "wool" in the expansion area. Straight pipes tend to sound "harsh" by comparison, while the Stebro pipe is deeper sounding. If you're having trouble visualizing what I'm talking about, below is a simple sketch.

I've got Stebro test pipes and muffler on my 348 - no inserts!
The sound is great! I don't find it too loud.

Here's a thread to my Stebro experience:
    http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=39631

There's a sound byte in the thread of my Stebro system (no baffles!).

I had the muffler installed at Stebro. The boys in the shop were great to work with!

I agree with you all the product is very nice , if you can get it , I waited 6 weeks for the muffler.Dan fails to communicate with his customers. He still has $350.00 of mine. What is your comment about this! As I see no one commented about Dan and his business practices just on the product. Ria, I am a European Auto Tech, so I Took my system to a freind who owns a muffler shop and he made me straight through test pipes for $60.00 and the system still sound great!!

Can't speak for Dan or the way he does business ....... but my one experience was good ...... and as I said above, his X-Pipe is about $ 1,400 less than tubi's X-Pipe ........ afterall ... it's just two straight pipes joined in the middle with a few other bits. Based on my experience I'd recommend him.
