    Although, much of the old FerrariChat.com has already been recovered, but not the scripts that ran the software and search. So once I install that we'll find out just how much is missing. I also have some really old copies of the board along with ExpensiveCar.com.

    Everyone needs to hope the hard drive is recoverable. I'm 90% sure it will be.

    rob - curious to know what the latest is on the restore?

    you posted on the 14th that there was 1 10% chance it'd be back within two days and 80% chance it'd be back within two months.

    shall we assume the drive is off to the recovery folks and it'll be january or february before we know?

    hope it all comes back - it'd be a shame to lose it.

    Probably best to get your own hands on that drive, and then you can make decisions on what to do and where to send it.

    Latest update...

    Host gave up after a week trying to fix the backup file.

    Host has taken down all my info and will have the drive sent to disk savers shortly.

    The banner ad software will be back up with all sponsors today. The View All Sponsors has been working and sponsors were still allowed to post commercial messages. All sponsors will receive a 25% discount for December.

    More info when I know it.

    Last I heard Disk Savers has my drive now. They say up to a 2 week turn around. I haven't called back to get a status.

    Does it seem like they are giving you the run around. 2-weeks is a long time to have a HD recovered. Last time we needed to do that here it was done within the day. Data is important and these people know it and that is why the turnaround time is usually shorter than 2 weeks.

    You might want to contact Disksavers to check and see if they have it. This company wouldn't just be telling you they sent it there, would they?

    Some good news and bad news.

    Bad news is I just found out the host hasn't even sent the drive to them yet. I thought it was sent 2 weeks ago. I get an email from the host today saying they can't send the drive until I arrange payment with Disksavers. I call Disksavers and they say I don't need any upfront payment. Any lawyers out there just want to take this case for fun just to **** them twice what they've ****-ed us?

    Good news (maybe) is that after talking with Disksavers and looking through their website, I'm pretty sure we'll have 100% recovery.

    Word is that they're programming a Horsefly data filter to purge the archives of all my postings. Fortunately I encrypt every post with "seek and destroy" programs to thwart such politically correctness efforts.

    The disk is in your mouth, and the host won't cum in your mailbox...lazy bastages....
    Why aren't people able to own their actions anymore? Like it is our fault they're fockups??
    Get disk fixed at their cost, and dump'em.
