SICK OF SLOW WINDOWS IN MY 348, DECIDED TO DO PROCESS OF ELIMINATION BEFORE REPLACING THE MOTORS. THE WINDOWS SEEM TO GO UP OK UNTILL A LITTLE PAST MID POINT , THEN GOT REALLY SLOW.
HERES WHAT I FOUND , THE RUBBER SEAL ON THE OUTER PART OF THE DOOR [ NEAR THE OUTSIDE DOOR JAM, TRIANGLE SHAPE ] WHERE THE WINDOW EVENTUALLY GOES INTO, [ SORRY I CANT BE MORE SPECIFIC, NO PICS YET, THE RUBBER INSIDE HAD GOTTEN SMALLER AND HARDER WITH AGE SO WHEN THE WINDOW EVENTUALLY GOT INTO THAT AREA ITSLOWED DOWN DUE TO BASICALLY A TIGHT SQUEEZE. TOOK OUT BY TAKING OFF THE DOOR PANEL, UNSCREWING THE 2 ALLEN SCREWS ON THE DOOR JAMB, TOOK THE UNIT OUT AND THE RUBBER SEAL, SANDED DOWN THE INSIDE SOMEWHAT AND THEN PUTTING SOME GREASE INSIDE, MAN WHAT A DIFFERENCE !! BOTH MY WINDOWS WERE ACTING THE SAME WAY AND BOTH NOW WORK GREAT., SAVED A BUNCH OF CASH, REPLACING THE MOTORS WOULD OF BEEN A WASTE AND STILL NOT FIXED.
HOPE THIS WILL HELP SOME FERRARI OWNERS WITH THEIR SLOW WINDOWS.

    Hey John

Do a search through the archives on this subject, you will find lots of info. You my also want to check the connectors in the door jams.

Yes I know. But you still will want to check the condition of the connector in the door jam. Peal back the rubber boot and make sure the wires are in good shape. It is VERY common for them to break. Also make sure that the condition of the pins are good. Just giving you a little bit more info to help prevent any future problems. None the less, glad to hear to figured this one out.

    John -

But the $64K question is this: How many of those stupid little plastic pop-pins got broken when you pulled the door panel??? :)

I've been doing some repairs to the wiring on the drivers door of my 348 (thread to follow later). I pulled out this "triangle shape" piece to have a look at it. The rubber appears to be in perfect condition, but there was a lot of balled-up gunk in the track. I thought I would ask the Ferrari dealer what they charge for this piece, as long as I had it apart - part #62213000 - $298.78, just for the rubber part!!! I think I'll clean it up and put it back together....

There is a company that advertises in Hemmings that sells universal power window upgrade kits for American Classic/muscle cars that adds pw to cars that didn't come with them from the factory . I believe the kits are around $200 per window. I have seen a TR that had one of those kits modified/used to replace the Ferrari OEM pw system completely. The windows went up and down like a BMW! Since everthing fits in the window, it looked stock.

MILTONIAN, THATS THE PIECE THAT WAS GIVING ME PROBLEMS. ONCE YOU TAKE OUT THE TRIANGULAR LOOKING PART, THERE ARE 2 PHILLIP HEAD SCREWS INSIDE THAT, ONCE REMOVED THE RUBBER COMES OUT. I OPENED UP THE RUBBER [ BUTTERFLYED ] GRINDED THE GOOKY CRAP OUT AND THEN GREASED IT. AFTER EVERYTHING IS PUT BACK TOGETHER, IT SHOULD MAKE YOUR WINDOWS GO UP FASTER, AND DOWN..
