thnx for posting. very interesting. too bad F didn't offer a V12 as an option or make it the original engine.

Hey, that engine is all assembled! You found a set of heads then I guess. I can't wait to hear your first driving impressions, it should be a blast.

This is very inrteresting. Does anyone know thw owner or the Mechanic personally? I was talking one day several years ago to a Ferrari owner here in Montana. He was originally from Burlingame. He told me about a guy that put a V12 in a 308. He said he remembered it well because the mechanic at night would cover all the cars in his shop with tarps and let a couple of Parrots fly around in the shop all night. I thought it was kinda interesting and wondered who the Shop owner is and the Parrot story.

    Charles,

Good luck with the project. Sounds like a fun challenge. Do you have the book they talk about in the article?

I actually met Dave Goldsmith back +/- 1980 at a concours/swap meet in Palo Alto. I think he was an engineer (and subsequently an architect) with Apple. SUPER nice guy as I recall. Bought a set of widened Pantera rims from him.

I remember talking about this project, but since I was a Mustang/Pantera guy at the time, it was mostly Greek (or rather Italian) to me.

Wonder where he and/or the 308V12 are today...

    I have the book--yes

So far I have identified 5 cars--mine is the 5th. I have had to spend a lot of time researching this--one of the other owners actually sent their x-fer gear to me to remake( I had a really nice one designed and made from billit---NO welding.
All of the other cars are either 3 or 6 carb models and most are NOT in good condition ( 1 was seized and auctioned in SanAntonio last year)
Mine will be an EFI car, teh entire motor and trans has been digitized and after all the welding was over the thing was remachined to correct specs.

There is an old link on v-12 308 cars--when I start my build-up, I'll start a new thread or revive the old one.

What month / year of R&T was this published? I likely still have an original copy of it if I can find it in the 30 year's worth of saved magazines!

After sitting in the basement for 15 yrs or so the beast has reemerged and it making progress.
my 328 motor had a mishap so I am taking the down time to test fit the 330 motor into the car and make some decisions.

Obviously we are very tight on space to some of the right gas tank may need to be cut off and I am investigating what it would take to put the A/C compressor on the right side of the motor on top and run it off of the cam shafts with a gear or shive system.
