I coulda been a darwin finalist...

I was changing oil on my motorcycle while wearing shorts and t-shirt. It's not safe to ride in that, but I wanted to do a test-run to be sure everything was OK. So I ran inside and grabbed the jeans I had worn the night before. I put them on and went for a ride. A couple of miles down the road the bike starts bucking and it feels like I have ABS and it's kicked in - only I'm not braking. I was doing about 50mph so I started to slow and as I pulled off the road, the tire locked up at about 20mph until I slid to a stop.

When I got off, I found there was something tangled in the rear sprocket and it was getting cut and chopped by the chain.

Turns out I had a pair of underwear in the pants leg from when I took 'em off the night before and it had come out when I was riding.

Now just imagine if I had wrecked and died because of that? Or if it had sucked my leg into the rear wheel and amputated it?

You guys would be laughing at my mistake when it was an honest one!

    yes, nice. :)

many years ago, riding my BMX home from school, i had a spare pair of pants from P.E. that wouldn't fit in my backpack, so i hung them over my handlebars.

going down a hill, freewheeling, i hit a bump, the pants lurched forward onto the wheel, got stuck in the forks and locked up my front wheel. my bike and me did a full flip in like a millisecond, landed back on the wheels, still locked up but i managed to bail in to one of those awkward unbalanced downhill runs, while watching my poor BMX tumble down the hill. :(

What's sad is that it was only the second floor balcony - if she wasn't loaded on something she probably could have turned over and maybe just broken her ankles/legs or arms, etc. Her back and head must have taken the brunt of the hit. :(

I don't give it a ":(", because this is clearly natural selection at its best. She was only 23 -- hopefully she hadn't reproduced yet.

The sad thing is the personal injury attorneys can now start the lawsuit process. After all, the hotel was negligent for not posting 'No Handstands Allowed' signs in the balcony area outside. Only in America...

Attorneys don't offer to sue for someone, people come to them....

    This was really stupid.

    Woah woah! Relax!

I think he was impying that there is a good chance that some people would sue over this. I doubt he thinks that lawyers immediately draw up papers in hopes of fishing them out to victims of accidents they have heard about.

And one last thing, a toast......to world peace, lol

His comment wasn't the stupid one.

Lawyers DO offer to sue for someone. Ever heard of the term, "ambulance chaser?" Although not all lawyers do it, there are lawyers that go visit people in the hospital and try to convince them to allow them to sue on their behalf.
