FOC will have another go kart event in March like the one we did last year. March offers four weekends and we could do it either Saturday or Sunday. I checked with them (http://www.chicagoindoorracing.com/index.asp) and they confirmed that basically all weekends are wide open.

    So:

Tell us what your preferred dates would be or what are your personal blackout dates and we'll arrange accordingly. Timewise I'm thinking afternoon with a chance for dinner at the place for those who like.

The deal is btw still the same: We need a minimum of six drivers to run our own "Grand Prix" event, which consists of three qualifying races and one final race for the ten best. Cost per person will be seventy bucks. Trophies will be courtesy of FOC once again.

BTW: For those who haven't attended last years event: This is lots of fun and even if you don't intend to drive it can be still fun to just hang around in their nice facilities and bar. Wifes, girlfriends, partners, whathaveyou can enjoy a nice drink and/or food while watching you spin off the track. The $ 70 is only for participants in the driving, for non participants it is free of course (aside from your bar orders).

I probably don't count since I'm not a member... but if possible I'd be interested in racing anyway.

I'll be out of town on the 26th and 27th. Any other weekend in March would work for me.

It is for members and non members alike, so your opinion matters. Can't guarantee you (or anybody else) that we find a date that suits all, but we will certainly try and take it into consideration. The main goal is to get the six drivers.

    Provisional Drivers Lineup:
    Mike
    Andreas

I'm open every weekend in March except for the 26th.,27th.,too.

Also,if you have a Son or Daughter, that you might bring. They'd have fun. My Wife came with me last Year and she enjoyed it. But,I may bring Frankie,Jr, this Year. He'd probably have more Fun. They have alot of Video games to Play. Mostly Automobile related... Including an F355 Simulator. And,several Pool tables.

    But,watching the guys Race was a blast,too.

(The Food was really good there....But,I'm Dieting....:( )

Ok, we still got four options *IF* we use the current constraints, so how does everybody feel about the afternoon of Saturday, March 19?

    Current Driver lineup:
    Mike Z
    Mike
    Andreas

So we need at least three more drivers. Dave? Bill? Jack? Tod? Bob? Rocketboy? Mike? Dan?

I'm sure we'll find two more. I wonder how many Ferraris will end up in the parking lot?

    Borrowed cameras.:)

For the event last year I used Dave B's.

I hope I'll gain enough vision by the time of the event, to do the pics. again this year.

Ok, let's recap, what we got so far:

    Date: Saturday afternoon, March 19
Cost: $ 70 per driver for 3 qualifying races, 1 final race GP style with trophies

    Provisional driver lineup:
    Mike Z
    Mike AR
    Mike Caps
    Chelle
    Mo
    Dan
    Bill
    Andreas

    Master of ceremonies:
    Frank

    Fotography:
    Skip

So we have passed the minimum of six drivers. There isn't really a maximum, so anybody can still join. However only the ten fastest drivers from the combined three qualifying races can join the final race. Also the qualifiers define the starting grid in the last race. The last race is for the trophies.

THOSE OF YOU WHO ARE CERTAIN TO PARTICIPATE IN THE RACE, PLEASE SHOOT ME A PRIVATE MESSAGE. I WILL TAKE THAT AS A PROMISED PAYMENT OF THE $ 70 FROM YOU SINCE I WILL HAVE TO PAY THE PLACE IN ADVANCE. I WILL ONLY COUNT YOU IN IF YOU SEND ME A PM AS THIS THREAD WAS MERELY TO SEE WHO IS INTERESTED.

I'll try to go. As soon as March comes around I am sure I will be able to know if the date is good or not, ( right now it is just a little too far to nail it down. ) I'll bring my fiancee to keep Skip company. The option of meeting up with Andreas before the date to see his movie and flight sim is a great way to pay in advance.

We have no idea what the weather will be, but is anyone going to bring their Fcar again? Looking outside and by the way we were hammered with snow the past few days, ideal warm driving days seems like it is a long time away. Oh well.

    RocketBoy

PS: I hate that 355 simulator. The F1 shifting is ok but the way the car moves in the game make it feel as if a Ferrari engine/tranny was bolted on to a Lincoln Town Car frame.

Ok, here is where we stand right now (awaiting some more confirmations):

    Confirmed drivers:
    Dan
    Chuck
    Mo
    Dave
    Andreas
    Mike AR

    Potential drivers:
    Chelle
    Bill
    Rocketboy
    Rick
    Mike Z
    Mike Caps

We got the minimum for the reservation, which I'll put in. So we're on. Nevertheless any additional drivers let me know ASAP since it changes the way they run the race: If our group is big enough, we won't have any "outsiders" supplementing us.

Looks like we're going to have a good turnout again. For those who missed last year's event: The place does a stellar organization and runs this like clock work. Very professional, safe and fun in every way. IMHO the best go kart experience I had anywhere. Oh, and you don't have to bring any gear, but if you have e.g. your own helmet, you're welcome to bring it.

Definitely,if the Weather is good, and the Road Salt residue is gone,I will drive my Ferrari there. This year,we should all park together. Last Year,we were a little bit split up. Makes for nicer Photo's ...:)
