308/355 predictions

I have no doubt that the price of the 308 will be rising. The price should be about 20% less than that of the Dino, but not yet at the moment. For it to rise in price, one way is for it to earn a classic car status which it is not yet there. The 308 is at the point of being old cars. And price hit rock bottom when markets look at them as old cars as they are today. For some concours events, the 308 isn't classified as classic yet. But in 5 years, yes, and collectors will turn to them. And when the collectors begin to take notice on the 308, that's when the price will rise and there will be no stopping...
In 15 years the 355 will hit its old cars status at the same time the 308 will considered as a beginning of the Ferrari 3 series, last carb cars, fiberglass and they were launched during Enzo Ferrari's time. Then, the early 308 will be three times of that of the 355..................IMO

 

i agree, but i usually only keep my toy cars 6 to 8 months at a time. i am just saying i feel they will go up and there is a definate distinction between 75 to 77, 78 to 79 , and the injected cars as far as sound, peformance and percieved market value.

 

I believed that 50k is a good target price for a 308 in the future. I don't see these cars going down in price at all. Now that I've owned my car for more than a year I see how much of a bargain my car was for the price I paid for it.

 

Where do you guys see the 355 standing in the future and beyond? In Australia their value is sliding down the depreciation curve fairly steadily (66% of their original sell price now.)
I think they're the best looking of the modern ferraris so perhaps it could be remembered for that, which could boost its appreciation in the later years?

 

Another issue is that people see what ebay prices are for a POS, run into the ground 308 and then when they see a clean original car, they ***** and moan about how over priced the clean car is.

There are two types of older 208 - 328's

Beat to hell and clean and original. Only one will be a 50K in a few years. It's the beat to hell cars that will keep the prices low or extend the price range.

EBay has done nothing for the Ferrari market except make nice cars available to people that cannot afford the upkeep causing a re-flood of what use to be nice cars and deflating the quality car market.

 

I can see the 355 declining down below the price of a used beat t.r. in a few years. I think the prices for a 355gtb have dropped quickly here in the last year. I noticed a 95 355gtb going for 70G and a year before they were in the 100g range. It's a great car, but the maintenance expense will kill the values of these cars in the long run. I think a t.r. has dropped as much as it ever will before increasing slightly over the years. The reason, it's still a basic car. No fancy electronics to diagnose, and the depreciation for the engine out and it's gremlins has already been factored in.

 

On what planet? The ONLY carbed GTB that comes close to that price is a pristine glass car. Euro glass cars will fetch a bit more but regular US GTB's are closer to 28k. Or maybe the "3" was a typo.

You guys have this conversation once every six months. The Boxer thread started last month, this month it's 308's, next month it will be 348's, then 355's.....You've all been saying the 308's are going to go up in value but for the last two years the prices have stayed right around $25k for a carbed car and $35k for a QV.

If anyone has some irrefutable evidence other than "I think my car..." I'd love to see it. Hey, it's nice to dream but the prices aren't going anywhere.

I agree. A lot of this is "old dog - new tricks." There are a lot of wrenches out there who never learned any of this electronic stuff. But where there is a demand, there will be supply.

Fact is collector cars are on the rise again. Not long until the Ferrari are pulled into the mix. Look at the current American Muscle car prices for a trending gauge.

 

Like I said, the prices haven't changed much. And asking vs. selling are two different things.

Someone here thinks they are going to get $35k for there '77GTS with 70,000 miles on it. It's nice to dream.

Prices are rising. Slightly but it is an upward trend. What is wrong with a 70k milage car if it is well maintained, clean, correct and documented?

 

Look at the trend of 328's and TR's. Get that kind of rise even on a modern car.

 

Nothing if it's priced right. That ones not.
