Ok..this is what sums it all....a Vette..is probably better than a Honda( depending on model )...but when compared next to a Ferrari..a Vette is CRAP !!!!!

I dont care about corvettes nor vipers, they can do wonders and I don't care. I wont read your article because it would be a total waste of seconds. I think that I made that clear a few posts back, I can afford not one but many vettes so I really have nothing to envy about them. Also I own other cars other than Ferraris.

 

No doubt Corvettes are American made icons to give those who are in for inexpensive thrills a taste of something special (performance and styling).

The only two things noteworthy of the article were Ferrari test drivers were smiling, honking their horns, and making obscene gestures as the Ford GT was circling a roundabout in front of the administration building setting up for some pictures, which is a polite way of saying get the hell out of here. I'm a bit rebellious and thought that was hilarious.

The other is thing noteworthy is the journalist said the Ferrari engineer or test driver who drove the Ford GT was elated while driving it because it was a raw sports car that delivered the same thrills as a Modena for the Ford GT's lack of technology and implied it required greater control for the same lack of technology. Worthy of respect from its drivers like the wild 911's which I'm bet your familiar with.

To wish you were rich enough to take these products from the marketplace means tells me you are extremely insecure about them or that we should all be driving Ferrari's and if you can't beat them, liquidate them. Even if you could, the 2nd Amendment would get in the way.

I thought of buying a Ford GT but I waited far too long to get one, at the asking price they are going for second hand I would not pay that much money for one, but at $145,000 is another story. Going back to the if I had enough money to buy... I was strictly talking about the corvette. About the Ferrari people acting rude towards the GT is totally stupid unless it was with humor behind it. I gave my opinion about vettes but I would never tell a guy driving one that he is got a piece of crap or that my car is better or so on, I am not such a moron and I know that there are very fast ones out there. I was just talking about me owning one and yes was graphic about it, but no I'm not insecure about them, is just that they could be of better quality, look how expensive the Viper are when compared to Vettes and also look at how many people invest money on them. I am sure that they could sell for $80,000 so the materials could be better and of longer life. I feel the GM is cheating the customers. And about the 2nd Amendment, well I feel everything is got a price.

I just noticed this thread, and wanted to chime in. First off, I find it very hard to grasp that a 427 Z06 can beat an Enzo. I know those 2 cars quite well, with 2 close friends owning each of the cars. The friend with the 427 Z06 has his car heavily modified. No doubt it's a fast car, however I have raced him 2 times in my Murci, and my car was faster. Now, my other friend who owns an Enzo, we have had our cars on the track, and his car is faster than my Murci (not only in the twisties, but also in the straights). So, common logic tells me that the Enzo if the Murci is faster than the 427 Z06, and the Enzo is faster than the Murci, then the Enzo is faster than the 427 Z06. It's possible that under busy street conditions that the 427 Z06 driver got away from the Enzo, but remove the traffic and open the road, and it's game over for the Vette. Heck, I've had 4 cylinder cars keep up with the Murci on a busy highway. Big deal. Remove those barriers in front, and they won't even see me in about 15 seconds. It wouldn't be an all-out-spanking, but the Enzo would walk away from the 427 Z06.

 

I'll take that bet. You bring a stock 06 Z06, and I'll convince a close friend of mine to bring his stock Enzo. Oh, and bring $10,000 with you. Hell, bring more than $10,000. Bring as much as you want. I'll match it. Screw the stock market, this will be the quickest & easist money I have ever made. Be aware that not all Enzo drivers as 80 year old men with heart problems...

And after the 06 Z06 is done getting it's a$$ handed to it by the Enzo, I'll stomp it again in my Murci. You better bring some extra cash for that...

 

By heavily modified did it have twin turbos? I'm sure there are 427 engine packages for the C5 that aren't boosted.

I remember seeing a video... still have it actually... of a 427TT Corvette and Viper with nitruous oxide race (I assume the Viper also had more done to it). When the 'vette shifted gears the car moved up and down lol... it looked like a drag racer on crack. The Viper sprayed and won the race though.

It's obvious which car is superior when compairing 'vettes to Enzo Ferraris though. One was made to go 220 MPH while the other has been said to be unstable (I think it was David Beckham, but don't quote me ) at even 160-70 MPH... At a speed of 200 which one would you rather be in if something when wrong? I would rather be in the carbon fiber Ferrari with carboceramic discs, simple and effective F1 downshifts, active aerodynamics, and excellent steering feel (compaired to the $50k car atleast).

 

No, his car is normally aspirated, but the car has dynoed at just under 600hp. How much HP does the TT car have? As far as I'm concerned, unless it has 700+hp, it's not going to be an Enzo. And I mean 700+hp from an honest dyno, not Lingenfelter's dyno. I have seen cars that Lingenfelter has delivered claiming X amount of horsepower from his dyno. Then, they go to another dyno, and the numbers are not the same as he claimed.

 

An interesting thought crossed my mind. If the Vette does have 700+hp, who would want a 700+hp Vette anyway? It might be fun at the drag strip with slicks on, but on street tires and going over 150mph would be pretty hairy based on the intrinsic characteristics of the car. If I was going to build an all-out performance car and not care about anything but performance, I'd take a 996TT and mod the hell out of it. You can get 700-800hp out of those things, and they are engineered to go fast and handle properly. That's where I would put my money, if all I cared about was speed & power.

 

This post makes me feel like I'm on a ricer board where everyone pretends to be a character from "Fast and Furious".

Here's a suggestion: GET OVER IT. The Enzo is a far superior car to ANY Corvette. Go find yourself a high school playground where you can pick some fights to improve your low self-esteem.

 

No offense, but a N/A 427 Vette and a twin turbo 427 are two different cars in terms of power. The Lingenfelter has run low 9s to high 8s with slicks which is pretty good proof that Lingenfelter is not lying about the power, which is claimed as 802 crank hp and 866 crank trq. With a good launch (and proper tires) the Enzo would have zero chance of staying with the 427TT in a straight line.

Well, accept it...because it would happen as long as the Vette driver didn't screw up and they were strictly racing in a straight line.

Don't even think about the n/a 427 you raced...its completely different, the Enzo would walk that, but the 427TT is a completely different beast. Now as to if this race actually happened, that is something else completely.

 

Point taken. However, if the race did happen, and the TT Vette won, who really cares? I doubt very much if the Enzo driver is losing any sleep at night...

you migh as well be comparing top fuel dragsters to the BaJa! Ferraris are tight course hi revving exotics ... your c5 or c6 are straight ahead sprint vehicles... why is it that 40% of all Corvettes made are automatic and all of Ferrari 2 seaters are standard and or F1. Because corvettes are design to be an everyday driver, and Ferraris are made to be enjoyed. In the late fifty's and early sixty's Chevy had the right idea limited production and waiting lists? Now if you have $55k you got a corvette pick the color. Try that at your local ferrari dealer... You should think about losing the 308 and getting a c6 i think you personally would be happier. You lost a lot in the interpretation!!!
