Did you do a PPI? I noticed rust in the chasis and gas was leaking somewhere as it smelled from 6 feet away.

the rust issue was the least of that cars problems.0 oil pressure when hot,no brakes, worn out suspension, sketchy history, basically,a well worn out fright pig.

carnutvic: I didn't drive the car, was it really that bad? I'll probably take it for a test drive to educate my self on these cars. I'm sure I'll notice the problems too (saw your thread on the oil pressure).
I've tried several websites and there seems to be plenty of 77's although not in this area.

No problem...Why are you looking at a '77 in particular? If it's the hp you're after, when I dyno'd my car recently, it had 205rwhp, so close to 250 at the crank. I'm not sure if it has the 77 cams on it, but is well tuned and strong. There was a thread on it recently...

Yes, we decided from looking at the dyno curves that Bernardo's must have the earlier, stronger cams.......

    That's a strong motor.

No particular preference Bernardo but when I move back to Mexico within the next two years the car will be subject to a stupid import restriction: legally you cannot import cars younger than 30 years old. A '77 model will allow me to take the car in 07, I really like your car but I would have to wait two more years.

Thanks for the input BigTex. I'll hopefuly be joining the 308 '77 club sooner or later

fluque-it was really bad.it would not idle down past 1400 rpm so i put it in first gear and slowly let out the clutch until the tach read 8-900.oil pressure dropped to almost zero.this was after driving the car about ten minutes.it has so many problems, you would be spending another 10k to have a decent car.10k +26K- 36K for a car with no documentation.there is no way it has 18k miles on it.

It didn't strike me as a car serviced regularly, the owner also did not know whether the car had a major service done. The miles issue and the lack of history just add to the uncertainty. If the car needs $10k+ in mechanical and cosmetic repairs I would not pay more than $15k+ to end up with a 308 under $30k (but still no history). If I drive it this weekend I'll let you know how it goes.
