No problem with that at all !!!! (as long as you're not as ermmmm how can I put it ? as "large" as the last lass I last saw in his passenger seat. Si - I've got my name on the reserve list (I think), if I don't make it then a lift down (again !!) is very much appreciated. Craig - on Pistonheads you said someone 'special' was going - do we know who yet ? Rick
I will be there in the 360 been about 3 times and its well worth it Look forward to seeing some of you guys there
Is this event open to spectators or only to those registered to drive plus their passengers? I would like to just come and watch. Nigel.
No spectators. The owners of Bruntingthorpe only allow the registered cars entry to the track.... therefore only drivers and their guests may enter into the Bruntingthorpe airfield. Drop craig an email if its the sort of thing you'd enjoy and he'll put you on a list for future events.
Is there anything stopping you from going to see the air museum - and you can get a very good view from there. Last time there were definately people there using the site apart from just the VMax crowd . http://www.bruntingthorpe.com/aircraft_museum.htm Just a thought but you didn't hear from me. Rick
Unless the car you were to get a lift in breaks down the night before so you have no choice but to go to Brunters in a Micra!!!
Surely you'd see more just going to a decent trackday or race at Silverstone? Get up close to the track. The museum only has a view over a slow corner and short straight... doesn't seem worth it in my opinion.
Seriously, the problem with having spectators is that the drivers, or drivers/passenger combo have paid £150 to be there. Part of the enjoyment of this is the chance to get numerous passenger rides in other cars. If there are people there who have not paid, but still have passenger rides - and it will happen, no matter how much they say, oh we won't ask for a ride - then it seems a little unfair. Also, from a safety aspect, the less people wondering around the better... £160k AMG Mercs ABS CAN be made to lock up after the twisties oh yes Didn't half smoke a bit too! Now Nicola... about this long legged business... it's amazing how much legroom there is in the "empty" passenger side of a 348 Spider
Al, I was only stating that there was a museum there too that the general public can goto, and as Rico quite rightly pointed out the view from there is pretty crap compared to just attending a normal track day. I fully understand the safety and 'giz a lift' situation but I don't know how people looking at aeroplanes can have an impact on this. Are you suggesting that they would 'wander' over from the museum ? (because I didn't). The easy solution is for everyone to have a cheap plastic wrist band that identifies you as a paid VMax'er. Rick
I assume legs have to be covered (as per trackdays), actually arms too. If spectators were allowed then I can't see anyone complaining about paying a charge, as this is normal for motor events.
