other than the Fchat, im currently on a very popular Montreal chat called www.montrealracing.com where over 10 000 car nuts chat. lately there have been some very negative posts about Ferrari, not only about the F1 team but their road goign cars also.

their seems to be a growing dislike towards the prancing horse, general idea that men with small penis drive them and that their only for show offs while true drivers have Porsche's.........

    is this happening everywhere?

It's been going on for a long time. People always take shots at the best, and those who have the best. Do you/would you give a damn if someone thinks you have a small penis based on the fact that you have a ferrari? What a bunch of bullsh!t. It reminds me of the people who say money doesn't make you happy. They're usually the ones who don't have any...

It's yet another sign of the new wave socialist attitude sweeping much of the world.

That's one they have backwards. Per my personal observations, all but a small minority of Ferrari buyers/owners have a sense of the heritage and legacy that accompanies such a purchase. I see a hot new Porsche or BMW as much more of a purchased statement of aggressive personality and indicator of over-testosteronic owner behavioral tendencies.

Wasn't it the ancient greeks, a couple of thousand years ago, that first talked about "sour grapes"?

But I have noticed a growing intolerance for non-conformity. :(

I see many Ferrari lovers and many haters every day. The poeple who love the cars, well...they're alot like us, the people of F-Chat. The haters seem to have no real excuse as to why they dislike the marque. Saying that all owners are jackasses and have small penis's just make them look more ignorant. Generally, people who drive these cars are hard-core enthusiasts who just love driving passionately.

Personally, I dont really hate any manufacturer. Especially if they're making sports cars. :)

Well, maybe it's a good thing, people don't like them wont buy them, maybe prices will fall and they'll be more affordable.

Well, I do agree that most Ferrari owners buy them as ornaments and not for any great love of driving. How else to account for all the miserable Ferrari garage queens. This tendency to buy and then not drive some of the best sports cars around is one of the characteristic (and odd) traits of most Ferrari owners. JMO.

    just a funny note.

After I recently bought my 997 I had a guy at my office who doesn't much like me tell me that I must have a small penis. I un did the button and fly of my pants and offered to show him my glory, he wanted no part of it and got pissed off, although some of the secretaries were gathering round. :D

I think this is the root of the problem. A recent track Ferrai club track day here in Melb was cancelled due to lack of interest, a P car day is usually oversubscribed. Seems a lot of F car drivers prefer to either look at their car, or be seen in it rather than driving it. It is not the car that cops the attitude, it is the owners. Part of the tall poppy syndrome I suppose, but in the main, the there is some validity to these criticisms. I was going to tell an anecdotal story of a recent ride I gave someone, but will probably cop flack for antisocial driving behaviour so won't bother.

IMO, that is as absurd as the assumption that f-car drivers have small penis', vette drivers have their shirts unbuttoned with gold chains, camaro drivers have mullets, or any other silly generalizations out there.

What is your definition of a "true driver" anyway?

If most people never even see a Ferrari in their life, let alone get to see/talk with the owner how can they have a negative attitude towards Ferrari owners??? Must likely be envy, mostly due to the cost, not the car :(

And as far as garage queens. Some people buy them just to collect and as peices of art, not just to show off. After I wash my car I don't want to drive it cause it looks so nice when it's clean :)

LOL We hit 58 here in Chicago (I live in a burb) and I washed, vacuumed and otherwise cleaned my car. With the snow melt in full swing I knew I wouldn't want to drive it, so before I got started I had a ball driving around not caring about the puddles!

I see it aswell. Ferrari has become a symbol of needless wast to some people. Many people just can't get beyond the price of the cars and they jump to conclusions about the owners.

But unfortunatly this seems to be the direction the cars are heading. Ferrari used to mean performance, and a car you really had to DRIVE to get the most pleasure from it. Now you can buy a Ferrari with only 2 foot pedals and is as easy to drive as a Toyota. This has brought people into the Ferrari market that would otherwise buy somthing else. But now that they are easy to drive..easy to find and easy to sell (some models anyway) they jump in for the look at me factor. Unfortunatly these are the people non owners will run into..becuase these are the people who park their cars in front of StarBucks or out front of the club etc..and pose with it and cop an attitude. They don't see the guys at the tracks, or in their driveways tinkering around. Most of the real cars guys are driving them on deserted back roads with little traffic were they can enjoy the car for what it is. The Ferrari's you don't see are the ones owned by the real guys..except for the garage queens.
