They use E classes in Shanghai as taxis. Wake up America, there isn't anything special about those cars...

E-Class is Benz's "entry" car here right, about $25k? It doesn't look good, doesn't really have the Benz goods inside? Am I right?

No, you're thinking the C-class. The E is the equivelent of a 5 series BMW.

I parked my Daytona in the short term parking at SFO. When I was pulling out the cashier was going nuts over the car and asking me what I was doing with a Daytona at the airport. I just told him I had to drive something.

I usually get very positive reactions, thumbs up, smiles, etc. And then there is the occasional resentful type who is not going to let me in the lane in front of them. You know the type, they are set back but as soon as they see you turn on the blinker they accelerate so it is not safe or impossible to change lanes. (I get that more in the Corniche than the Ferrari but it does happen.)

    Thanks.

I take it the c-class and e-class are nothing more then "badged" Volvos or whatever (not that they are actually Volvos, but they are pretty much the same thing)?

Me thinks that you guys are driving too slow. Go fast enough, and you'll never notice any reactions!

BTW, my standard cover is this when I do stop while driving the back roads of Tejas:

    Whut's dat?

Ah, ****. If I tell you, I'll have to kill you.

Come on man, whut is dat thang?

Okay, you remember the Camaro, right?

    Ah, yeah.

Well, this is a special test car that is made in Mexico. GM is thinking about bringing the Camaro back.

    No Sh!!!!!t Sherlock!

Goddang, Jim-Bob, come over here and see this thang...
    It's the new Camaro!

No offense intended, but....when they realize that their chains were jerked, what will their reaction be? Now do you understand why Ferrari drivers have a less-than-stellar-image within the general population?

For car nuts, it’s not so much the brand but the uniqueness and condition of the car, especially older ones still on the road. I crane my neck and stop and ogle when I see really nice Mini-Coopers, 60s VW bugs, all Triumphs and MGs, street rods, 50-60s Cadillac’s, BMW 2002s, 55-57 Chevys, Datsun 240 Zs, etc. They're snapshots of automotive history, the time and effort and care owners put into keeping and preserving their vehicles and keeping them on the road.

Thanks. I thought twice about using it, cause it's not my best side.
