You're well wiser than your years would suggest. You're thinking about it exactly the right way. - ;)

I already said it clearly, if you can not understand, no point in continuing. Different people have different defition for "affording", got it?
Sure, you did the right thing, by shopping around for the viper and paid less, i would do the same. However, if NO ONE was selling at msrp, and you MUST wait 3 yrs to buy it for less, then will you do it?? It's not like there is a 360 for 150k and there is a same one for 110k if you search a bit. Bottom line is, you WAIT years for the price will go down to what you want to pay, then to some people, it means you can not afford at current time, nothing wrong with it, no need to get all worked up about it.

hate to say it, but i would think getting a 997 right now is maximizing the curve that ur talking about. agree?

But my point is that if someone thinks that way it does not make sense. To each's own but that mentality is just wrong.

Don't "hate to say it" - I'm going in with my eyes wide open, and know full well the hit I'll take. But like you say, I can "afford it." Just don't hate the playas that are smart about saving value, or suggest they can't afford a car, just cause they "play the curve."

just because people may have different opinions on what "afford" means, doesnt make the other person's view wrong.

this is my definition/meaning of afford:

if u are buying a ferrari, dont sink all your money into a damn car. buy ur house/apt first...plan financially first.....think long term. get a mortgage, get wad in the bank. THEN go and buy an expensive car if u can afford it.

personally, i would not buy an expensive car, if i do not own my place of residence. I am not trying to be cocky by saying "gots to play to play" or the other crap like "man up." I am telling u my opinions because I personally would like to see everyone here on this board to succeed financially. And there is no way you will have mad wad in the bank if u spend it improperly. I did not get to my comfortable lifestyle by wasting my first paychecks on a Ferrari. I actually bought 3 apartments in NYC BEFORE i bought my 360 in 2000. And i made some good $$ on them to.

correct zen. I can "afford" to buy a $100,000,000 yacht (monthly payment wise), but do I want to? HELL NO. i probably wont be able to buy new clothes, live in a sick pad, etc....
so does that mean i can "afford" a $100,000,000 yacht? answer is NO.

    Werd up H-Dawg!

That's why you gotta give props to those who buy at the low end of the curve, even if they can pick a new one up. Putting their money into the house / family while still living the F-Car dream. Gotta love it.

fwerf. i dont disagree with ur opinion that u try to buy assets at the lowest possible price. u have to be a fool if u pay full price for anything! (well...damn...sometimes i like things sooo much that i got to get em, even at full price....so yes, i am a mook sometimes!)

Well again that's why people are different.
Remember, it is not about black & white, right or wrong.
It is simply how people define/phrase a situation.

as i said again and again, it is simply different definition.
not everyone must follow your definition.

Emil, if you trying to just get a F car to hold you over until you get your F430 then this is what i would do:

1- buy a CS because it will not depreciate as much as a regular 360 or spider due to it's limited production or

2- buy a F355 spider which has already taken it'***** and you will not loose as much.

i would go with the first option if i was you. As for saving money for the F430 you will have to put up the similar number on the 430 so you might as well get the CS and trade it in when your 430 comes in. you are looking at the same amount of money either way.
