Since I bought my car I had a little play in the universal joint that comes just off of the steering column. Naturally this has led to less than percise steering and is something I would like to fix. Yesterday I took the joint apart and found my problem. When the good folks at Ferrari assembled the joint back in 1977, the left some of the needle bearings out of one of one of the ends. The car has therefore had this problem from new. Feeling that it may be too late to call in warranty, I'm left looking for a replacement universal joint. The part from Ferrari is MEGA expensive for what is really just a simple connection. I'm only interested in replacing the inner portion (as pictured). Does anyone know where to hunt a supplier down that would make joints in several sizes that I could then match to the OEM one. Any leads would be appreciated.

    Robert,

If you draw a blank we stock the complete universal joint (# 103343), but as you say they are expensive and our best price is around $220 plus shipping.

Some of the hot rod parts places stock universal steering column u-joints.
Try a web search for 'u-joint' and 'custom'. There were some links in the old f-chat, but it's still off-line(sigh)...
