www.hirschauto.com will sell you an identical half hide, with low shipping charges. They may also be able to sell you a remnant.

I have always had luck taking the original leather piece into any leather store (Yellow Pages) who were able to match the grain pretty close, cost? usually $0.

I have done several airbag covers this way in 355s.

Tandy Leather is still in business here......you are right they have smalll remnants....

Another source may be Veteran's Trim and Supply in Houston...on Lubbock..three warehouses of vintage materials...all the Rolls and Jags go there...

If it's a wierd color I'd try them.......

Any quality uphostery shop will have hides that will work just fine. I have redone the dash on several Ferraris over the years at a place called The Mad Stitchers and he had hides that matched perfect without the "connolly" pricetag.

While it may be not practical and expensive to buy a whole hide if one only needs a small piece, I would not say that about $ 5 ft2 is expensive for leather. In fact I would say that is pretty cheap.

Most probably anyone that deals with leather would certainly donate a small scrap if asked.

Bookbinders are also a good source for small scraps (and they are always very nice people).
