355 Tyre Sizes

Over on the US side of FChat, the recommended size for 355 rear tyres is 275/40/18 (OEM is 265/40/18). They reckon you only need to up the tyre pressures by a Psi to restore the handling balance.

Seems like a good idea if a. you can get a better range of tyres in that size and b. the extra rear rubber adds a bit more grip.

DOes anyone have any experience of fitting the larger rubber???

I ended up going with 295/35-18 in the rear - it is a perfect match without spacers or clearance problems. The aspect ratio on the rear is almost identical between the 265/40 and the 295/35. The wider tire offers slightly more rear grip, offsetting the factory inclination towards understeer. You'll also find a lot more tire selection in the 295/35, compared to the 265/40.

What tyre size do you run on the front ?
Do you have spacers on the front and what size ?
What spacer size do you have on the back ?

 

I run stock front, and no need for spacers in the back - the 295/35 fits just fine, as is....

My brother runs 275/40/18 Toyos on the rear of his 355 Spider. No spacers needed.

No adverse effect at FOC track days last year and a damn sight cheaper than OEM tyres.
