As I said before "What BS"

Luso was out of line and that is all there is to it. There was not two different stories. Before you try to make someone out a liar on a Public site get your facts straight privately especially when that is where the intitial conversation took place.

The defense of Luso is a pathetic one to say the least but you sure do learn alot about people by reading those defenses.

I'm done as well, it's been enlightening.......

I am with lusso on this one. The military has a very good definition of a lie; "any attempt to deceive"

: to practice deceit; also : to give a false impression <appearances can deceive>

I would throw "barn find", "the other person", "the lady" in with false impressions. As far as their "private" conversation; the guy is using this website to possibly sell this car to someone on this forum. Lusso has every right to fill in the blanks to other people here - AS LONG AS IT IS TRUE. If mansonfamily wanted it off FerrariChat he should have never brought it up on FerrariChat. If you are attempting to sell a car to the public and you reveal certain facts about the car to a potential buyer, since when is that to be considered so confidential? If someone tells me something about it why can't I say what they told me to someone else? There can be only one reason why someone would want to prevent that from happening.

Finally, if mansonfamily were NOT trying to deceive us why on earth would he be so upset that someone let the cat out of the bag? He called him ****** for simply telling the rest of the story! That is proof that Mansonfamily did NOT want most of us knowing the complete facts. If it were my 10-20K I was risking I would want to know the whole story and I would wonder why the seller would be so upset with him for telling me. It really makes you wonder what other surprises are within that 308 package.

I thought I was done but this is just to good to pass up:

"The military has a very good definition of a lie; "any attempt to deceive"

Thats who I would quote "the Military" for the definition of a lie!

I absolutely do not believe this kind of thinking. I have gone back and read through the entire thread to the point were Lusso made his comment. To quote Lusso's post : "I remember you calling me last Monday evening (Jan 31) offering to sell the car to me for about 20K". Calling refers to a phone conversation does it not? That has nothing at all with Fchat at that point, its out of the realm. Up to the point where Lusso made the comment, I seen nothing questionable at all. And after the fact, to find out it was his Aunts bf, that is kind of like an "uncle" in a transient sense. The man died, she got his junk, who gives a rats butt. The bottom line is that Lusso took a private phone conversation and used discrete information to make the man out to be a liar in public. How many of you want to tell the world your Aunt has a bf? I would say uncle as well if asked in that situation. If people want to take a discrete phone conversation and discuss it here, I will refrain from doing any type of buisness with anyone from Fchat. Discretion is the better part of Valor, least it used to be.

I fail to see anything embarrassing about someone's aunt having a boyfriend. I have an aunt who has a boyfriend. She is single.

Furthermore, you seem upest that lusso "made him out to be a liar in public".
No way. Lusso simply stated facts. He made HIMSELF out to be a liar in public by "misleading" us in his earlier posts. That was all mansonfamily, not lusso. Besides it was lusso's phone conversation too. I suppose it's his business as well if he want's to discuss it here. mansonfamily's story stinks. How can you defend this guy? Do you disagree that he is a liar?

It is the way you initially presented it. Go back and re-read it. Nobody cares who you really got it from or why. It doesn't decrease it's value one bit. Don't act like you're hiding something and nobody will question the rest of the situation. Good luck with your new child and your new house. I mean it.

I guess I have to appologise for thinking I might be dealing with people who had better taste and discretion. This is the type of attitude I would expect out of trailer park people, sniping and gossiping about each other and finding ways to justify it. If all he was doing was inquiring as to the cars worth to a buyer in a basket case condition, what difference would it make who he said owned it, and why is it the buyers responsibility to come to the rescue and point out the man has a different story that what he told him, and publish it in a public environment. Uncle turned into his aunts bf, OMG, get out the torches and pitchforks. If Mr Lusso hadnt said anything, if he had some better discretion, none of this would have come up. If someone on here did something like that to me, I would go ballistic. Why did someone feel it was necessary to tell us the car was offered to him to buy it for $20K, and he bid $10K, did he get jealous? Is this how everyone should expect to be treated by people in this buisness? Is that how you treat customers? Is this the Trans Am list? Did I take a wrong turn somewhere? What a bunch of B$. I guess the best advice to anyone contemplating speaking to anyone related to Ferrari or this forum, is to offer no information. no further comment

Seems this has gotten way out of hand - yeah I know - understatement! So, time to TRY and clear a few things up...

Paul (krowbar) - I am sorry I so offended you - I didn't mean to offend you or anyone else. FWIW I do thank you for the kind help you offered me when I had carby trouble with my old GT4 when I lived in Australia. When no-one else could step up with the right answer, you did.

Bill (Mason?) How's it all going? Seems this thread has become a you-versus-me and we're no longer involved directly! Any progress with the car?

To anyone who's mad at me - sorry for upsetting you. Maybe taking this "public" wasn't the best way to go. But please remember that some of us have been stung in a big way by "fly-by-nighters". It doesn't help much when after the fact, someone steps up to the plate and offers information that would have made us more cautious.

Now, I am not suggesting in any way that Bill is/was planning on doing this. I just had alarm bells ringing when the details discussed in my conversation with Bill didn't match what was initially written here. As things have transpired, I feel comfortable with what Bill has said by way of clarification.

To those who see things from my perspective - well, I needn't say more - you understand where I was and am coming from. For the support - thanks.

Please do NOT read anything into my comments that weren't there. I am not jealous of Bill - his good fortune is just that; it also came at a personal price as he has mentioned. And I did not "bid" 10k on Bill's car. First, I offered 10k, and then it was in jest - go back and look at the post - there was a smiley after it - you know... one of these guys ---> :)

Finally, the suggestion that I have an issue with Bill's Aunt living with a boyfriend I find simply offensive. This is a car forum (trans am or otherwise), not Springer. As explained, I had an issue with some conflicting information about a car. I could care less about the living arrangements or otherwise about a previous owner/relative of the current owner, other than if 2 stories don't match, then there is the POTENTIAL for other information relating to the car itself to be questionable (and as I have explained above, this issue has for all intents and purposes been clarified and the issue put to rest).

Now, what can we/I do to help Bill? Bill???

    Dave

The very 1st thing I did when Mason Posted is to contact him privately and offer my assistance, we have been speaking reguarly and will meet shortly. I find Bill to be straight forward and honest. I look forward to assisting him in his project to return the QV to the road.

As for Luso I personally appreciate that you now seem to understand that the public chat arena was not the best way to make your concern known. That was my only problem with what went on here up until Mr. Cosgrove at the end decided to tell Paul that maybe he should leave the forum, that's a clear indication of what was being dealt with here. As I said earier "how low can one go" and now we know.

    Paul

And thank you to Krowbar (paul) for seeing things for simply what they where and speaking up!
