I'm planning a trip to hit some Meditterranean countires in late-May and just realized the Monte Carlo Gran Prix is happening during my stay in the French Riviera. Is anyone going? I'm looking for insight as to places to stay and ticket prices. I understand it's very expensive so has anyone had good luck getting a good deal on hotels and tickets? I'm not looking for the whole 3 day tour due to time constraints, I think we'll just go to Monaco on Saturday and leave Monday. Are there any perks through the Ferrari owners site? I'll be heading into Italy Monday after the race and plan to tour the factory in Maranello on Tuesday...any suggestions? Also, I'll be in Cannes the week prior to the race while the Cannes Film Festival is going on. Has anyone been to that as well?

I don't know a thing about Cannes, but have been to the Monaco GP every year since '92. Feel free to PM me with specific questions, but I should mention that hotel rooms in Monaco are VERY hard to come by and VERY pricey. Now if you don't mind staying in Nice and taking the train in to Monaco, you shouldn't have too much trouble finding a hotel room. As for race tickets, it's probably too late to get them from the Automobile Club of Monaco (but you can certainly check), so you may need to go to a broker like Just Tickets in the UK. I sit in the K grandstands down by the harbor (and with a view of the giant screen)- they're expensive seats, but if you're going all that way . . .

I have been a bunch of times in the last 15 years. If I'm not staying with friends who live in MC...there are some great little hotels in town. The Columbus is owned by Coulthard and is very cool. The problem now is that everything might be sold out.

If you stay in Nice, you don't have to take the train. There is a helecopter that goes vitrually into town and takes about 10 mins from Nice.

All in all...do whatever you have to to get there...it is very special and not to be missed. MC is actually much nicer to visit when the F1 race is not there....but F1 and MC are just too cool! Have fun!!

I did both last year. I was in Cannes the week before for the film festival and then went to Monoco for the F1 race. If you can't find tickets state side, don't worry, there are usually a number of tickets available in Monoco.

Check GPtours.com. They have package deals and something may work for you. They're based out of Newport Beach.
