Shabu shabu = $1k/person (Kobe beef) Hostess bar = $2k/person, 2 hours + Scotch And for those that don't know shabu shabu, its not sushi. Its thinly sliced beef you cook yourself. The restaruant that was "hated" in Lost in Translation is actually my favorite in Tokyo. Its called Shabu-zen. Right across the street from the US embassy. Spicy's favorite is Tokaju in Ginza, a Korean BBQ place. Crap, now I'm hungry.
Thanks for the recommendation, I will try'em out. I am really pissed about Blowfish not serving the fiesta roll...spicy tuna with Pico de Gallo. Nothing like Serrano peppers, onions, cilantro and tomatoes chopped in very small pieces and rolled with tuna...I need to practice rolling myself.
No, "Roppongi" fun doesn't end at a dinner. You have more fun coming after that. Although expensive Sushi bar will cost almost $300 person w/ expensive sake.
Have you been to ever famous No-pan shabu shabu? I just don't agree that I have to cook & eat, so I often try to avoid shabu shabu, but not the preceeding. Jojo-en is my favorite for Korean BBQ. Anyway, I do think restaurant in Tokyo are expensive. I guess it can't help it since their land is expensive to begin with.
I'll try Jojo-en next time. I was asked to go to Suzuka next week, but I have a meeting in Shanghai I can't get out of. I can't remember if I've been to No-pan before. I vaguely remember going to a place shabu shabu that had a geisha playing a harp. But I don't know if that was Tokyo or Numazu. I do remember I drank a lot of sake that night and I didn't have to pick up the bill.
