if you look at the dino toolkit that sold just over two weeks ago, it appears that the 13/17 wrench has the sircodin writing on it. going to support the theory that this wrench could either have or have not.

although i question the bag, due to the "reversed" nature of it, the tools seem to be correct. let's see, how much could one sell tools for if the kit was broken apart?

Looks like on screwdriver is possibly wrong in the previous kit.
Shown 6 flutes and thin shaft phillips head

But who cares about details :)

$2801.05 for a tool kit with some questions as to its authenticity.

Maybe it's time to put some of these together ourselves.....

    I saw the kit
    I know Ed Domaskis
there is no question about Authenticity of this kit
I am the only one on the list that has seen it.
I saw the rest of the parts. Real old Ferrari parts Ed is a real guy as well as the parts. Single distribuor for Boano was real,
early 36DCL with no tops were real (Betz confirmed came off a burned Boano)
radiator shutter for Calf Spyder was real,300Sl dist caps, Carello
switch boxes for 1950-54 cars were there (worth good $$$)
two 250 tool bags were there.

Mike Dunn made screw drivers - The kit did not have Mike Dunn screwdrivers which tend to be red

Greg Jones and my self have made Pliers The kit did not have those

Dino Tool kit bag in question was original did not dwell on which way it opened, it was very nice. No one has repoped them

Dino wrenches have not been reproduced no the spark plug wrench.
The molds (invetment castings)for my Chromolodeno (1948 1957 wrenches
cost almost 2000 each wrench plus the pour. That was 16000 set up for that project, then the pouch, then the rest of the kit. Dino Tool kits at 2800 repro is not a feasible project.

Hopefully this puts the authenticity question to bed.

You must have known all of this prior to the end of the auction.

If so, why not share it at that time?

Post auction doesn't really do anyone here that was considering bidding any good and I believe the reason for the thread in the first place was to trry and help determine authenticity.

So the timing of your post, while interesting and informative, only leads me to wonder why it's here at all.

    Dave,

Guess most do not understand I work nearly 80 a week and am on the road most of the day, not to mention attending Cavallino and Barrett Jackson (0345Eu in RM) and PCA event last week Not to mention two 250 motors to get out. Some have time to sit at the computer and chat, explore and postulate. I do not. That's why I haven't even started looking for your parts, which I believe I have at my other building.

Please note the break in my day, my post was 4:38 am on a Sunday, I am leaving now 6am on a Sunday and it is not to go to church.

    Bye Bye

    TS,

I'm not trying to bust you balls here.

I understand you run around and work hard, but you did post a couple of times into this thread, and it just seemed a little odd to me that you posted all of the information after the auction was over.

And, I haven't bugged you about the parts. I know you're busy, and compared to selling a car or three, finding me a couple of window frames is pretty low priority. that is not a problem at all.

So what is the final verdict on this tool kit. Are all the pieces original? I am refering to the most recent E-bay auction Dino tool kit. I am a little confused about the information in the last few posts and I have a vested interest in the tool kit in question.
    Regards, Mullin

So what exactly did he say? Is every piece original in his opinion. For some reason I am having trouble understanding the response.

Tom, if you bought it, you have an appropriate late model tool kit, probably only used in the '74's. At least that's how I read all the stuff tucked in between the lines here from Tom et al.

If you got it, nice buy! These just seem to be going up and up in price.

maybe this whole post was for nothing, but i respect tom's opinion about the issue. i just felt it appropriate to raise the red flag and discuss an issue that could be problematic. as i noted from the tool pics i saw, they looked good. we all know the value of those tools individually exceed the $2800 price. even if the bag isn't real (which i believe it is), it is still a good buy - if you call $2800 good for about $10 worth of real world tools. it's amazing how much a collector will pay for originality and rarity, myself included.

Nearly 15 years ago I bought a tool kit from Sheehan (back when he was European...) and he positively swore it was correct for a Dino. As my car hadn't come with the tools, I bought it. It does not look like either of yours early or late (red liner) as it has a heavily textured grain to the outside.
Discussion with others indicates it was for an early 206 car.
I'll post a picture this evening.

"dave, very late tool kits had a red liner. I think 74 only. Very early kits opened left to right but still had the tan lining.
I was offered one of these last year by an unscrupulous dealer who wanted me to believe it was ok for my '72 spider.
Rule is -alaways research as money turns heads.
Other differences are the flat head and round head screwdrivers and also some tool kits has a script on a mid screwdriver "

The open end wrenches are marked "Gedore Made in Germany" on the front and "DIN 895" on the reverse.
The flat and phillips screwdrivers have a flat end and six flutes on each.
Sheehan told me the pliers were incorrect (USAG USA) but the most peculiar thing about this is that the case has such a heavy grain that is milk chocolate brown.

Has anyone else seen this type of tool kit in Dinos?

You are correct in your description, Pliers could be Chrome 275 Style instead of 250 style CAD plated (later dino style).

I have 3 of these kits

Forget the pliers in that image, Sheehan just stuffed a USAG pair in there to round it out - what about the rough grain on the exterior of the tool pouch?
    Real thing?

Were Gedore German wrenches used in early or late cars?

geodore were also used in middle-late 330GTC's late 275 GTB/4 and early daytona plexinose to 1970 Euros, I have yet to date seen them in a USA Daytona (never say never) same finish bag but different style

    Thank you,
I appreciate the opportunity to learn from you
and enjoyed the time in 1995 you unvited me to your house to buy the 4 Dino Campy wide wheels. I had them restored as an extra set for my Dino.

Well the truth is I was after the V12 parts, which I now own.

    One wrong word or sentence.

Forget about the dino tool kit,
there was really good 50's V12 stuff, which is now mine.

I wanted to complete my Dino Tool pouch before replying to this very interesting thread.

I made this tool kit from "scratch" by purchasing new components (reproduction items and others that "looked like the original").

What do you think? I was not up to spending $2800 for an original tool kit. Needless to say I spent much less.

Wonder what this might go for on e-bay....

    Thanks

    YOW!
Yours opens from left to right and mine from right to left, but both have that same heavily texture brown surface.

I saw Tom Shaughnessy sell a complete Dino kit including manual window crank on Ebay just 9 months ago and only got $1500 for it, so I'd say value is completely determined by bidders and timing.
