I'm talking about the 2006 dodge charger... btw. I like the looks, if it was a coupe it would be great. but a 4dr charger.....
I'm with you on this one. I wonder how drunk these guys had to be to actually think a 4 door charger was a good idea. It'd be like making a 4 door vette.
Yeah, just like that 4-door Impala Actually, while I dislike the 4 door, it's hard to get too pissed off about the return of 400 HP V8 musclecars. Make mine Plum Crazy Now, the use of the "Dayona" name on the pickup is a bit over the line. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Yeah, I like it too. Its a very nice sedan. The problem that I have, is that its name is "Charger". The Charger is an icon for dodge. Like the vette for chevy, the GTO for pontiac, and the mustang for ford. And they all did a good job in those cars. But dodge completely ruined the image of the charger making it a sedan. It's a nice sedan and i like it, but i dont like the fact that this is the charger. As for the impala, the impala was more of like a looks, luxury car, not much of a muscle car, i think it evolved into a 4 door like some cadillacs. still it could look better. If they come up wiht a coupe model of the charger (they might to get rid of their stratus line) it would be nice, and i think it would it live up to its name. George.
I see it as a pathetic attempt to sell average (if not under-average) cars using nostalgia and a "name". Thumbs down from me.
i will never buy another dodge car. Truck or SUV perhaps. But not the charger or 300c or anything else. This New age Charger is a stupid idea made by stupid people, to have stupid people buy it
Amen, I'm heart broken over this, Chrysler had the perfect launching pad to make an awesome car with Hemi lineage, they blew it.
They've been talking about that since 98. It does suck though. I like 68 chargers. My best friend has a 60 Super Bee 383 with a 4 speed. Mopar or no car. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I dont know why they would turn down the orginal 2door concept for that ugly 4door. If they expect to win the buyers of the G35s and RX-8s then they better do something. cuz a Hemi V8 wont cut it!.
I thought I was the only one that thought they did a big mistake with the Charger. Glad I'm not the only one. IMO they rushed to bring it out. In few words the Charger looks too much like the magnum. I saw the drawings on Car and Driver and the car had 2 doors it looked amazing and than this piece of ..... comes out?!?!? Amazing! They could have made big bucks bringing back the charger but ...
The car is so damn ugly. I find it insulting dodge would try to pass that god awful thing off as a charger. Then again all the DC products these days are ugly. As much as I hate it it's saving grace may be that daytona version. I may not be that old but I love seeing that R/T back in the grill again. This car could have been so great if they had built the 99 concept car.
Leave it to the Germans at DC to not connect the new Charger to its legacy. There isn't a single feature or accent on the new Charger that connects this car to its past (unless you consider the painted hood scheme). It is a Sedan version of the Magnum with a semi-Hemi powerplant. They are clueless and are doing the exact same thing to the Viper... killing it with mediocrity. The Germans are slowly killing off various parts of Chrysler in an effort to return to their Damiler Benz past. Chrysler has become the dumping ground for old Benz technology (i.e. the 300C and the Magnum are using the old E Class chassis). The fact that there is not a single American left from the Chrysler old guard in senior management in Chrysler speaks volumes. The upside is that Ford and GM have snatched many of those people up. Brad
I think you guys talking about heritage have legit complaints, but those who say that the Charger will be a below average car are full of crap (unless you mean below average for European sedans. If the Charger is basically a Dodge version of the 300C, then this should be the best sedan to come from Dodge... EVER. I've driven the 300C, and it is a car I would actually consider buying -- something I never said about a 300M, much less any of the POS dodge cars like the Stratus, etc.
http://www.chicagoautoshow.com/neatstuff/whatsnew/gallerynew.asp?MODEL_ID=299 That car above is NOT going to be the Charger. See my link above, to set the record straight. Viper's comments are on the money. Its a shame that it won't live up to its expectations.
Thanks Sunny, Somebody should post a pic of it so the confusion stops. I cant i maxed out long time ago :-( the picture posted by GTO84 is of an old concept of the car (see the old dodge lines, kinda like the stratus) the new one is more like the 300C. George.
Yeah, i think they messed up pretty bad with the styling of the car. Just like Pontiac did with the new GTO. It seems manufacturers are trying to bring back old historic cars but instead they are completely killing them, except for Ford. They did a wonderful job with the new GT. Here's some more info on the new Dodge Charger R/T.
While I'm certainly no fan of the new design I have to admit it looks somewhat okay in this pic: http://home.comcast.net/~pbaxterjbl/CL/P1010046.jpg
Was there really anything so extraordinary about the old cars? They were just basic sedans and coupes with huge motors stuffed in them. Kind of like... the new breed of v8 domestics, don't ya think? Dam-Chry's reasoning for making this a 4 door is that they already have a sporty coupe that doesn't sell well (Crossfire). Where I think they are mistaken is that they assume it doesn't sell because it's a 2 door, overlooking the fact that it's a POS that has been universally panned by everyone who's driven it. A Charger 2 door might have worked, but we'll never know. Either way I like the 4 door.
The 1998 concept is a 4-door also. Just looks much better. Then again, there was also this computer generated version: Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Actually the new Charger is being built to replace the Intrepid. With that in mind the next generation of their mid sized "sedan" had to have 4 doors to fill the shoes. Has nothing to do with the SLK in Chrysler clothing.
