Showed a photo of the Veilside body kit to a friend with a 348. He wants to get rid of the "cheese grater" look on the sides. Veilside doesn't make the kit anymore.

    Does anyone?

But, that's what makes that car... :(

Oh well... Raylex Design might be able to hook you up with what ever you want. He's on the board here. I'm sure he'll find this post soon enough!

I believe the 355 pieces bolt right up - ought to be plenty of used ones out there. Try Ferrari Service of Costa Mesa - Michael parts out any number of cars.

Cannot say I approve but WTF if it is what he wants to do - Lord knows we all don't have 355 money....

    Cheers

Actually, we're working on getting 348 doors done in carbon fiber without the strakes. This is something we had planned but no one had brought up yet.

Tifosi Ron - What is your friend's timeframe? The doors wouldn't be ready for a bit, but I am having a sale on our current lineup of 348 carbon fiber for orders taken in the next few days - see www.ryalexdesign.com for details. Please pass on the link and have your friend contact me directly.

I can appreciate the "purist" approach of some of you concerning changes to a Ferrari, but then there is nothing wrong with tasteful individuality. I had an enjoyable three hour chat last week with a gentlman of great individuality when it comes to Ferraris, and not too many people have complained about his results. I understand even Enzo himself approved of these changes.

So getting rid of the cheese grater side panels on the 348 should be OK if the end result is a least as attractive as the original. Ferrari did that when they introduced the 355.

By the way, the name of the man that changed many a Ferrari's appearance that I spoke with is Tom Meade, based in Modena and currently working in California.

If he wants to get rid of them for good, just cut them out. The door strakes are nothing more than fiberglass. Cut out the strakes, sand it smooth, and then hit it with some paint. Presto just what you are looking for.
