I bought this on ebay as a gt4 expansion tank which of course it isn't, the gt4 tan sits horizontally, this one sits vertically and looks well made although custom, not stock? I would like to repost it on ebay but would like to figure out what it goes to. 308 GTB carb?

    Yes
Some carb 308 GTB/S had this type, as a similar type as some early Mondial 3.2.
Here is a photo of one in situ.

And, for FChat Old Tech Board trivia: What kind of distrubutor mod does this car have?

    Is that stainless?
It looks like an early 308 tank, but they were "rustable" and painted black.
If it is a good replication in stainless, it would have appeal.

It's not stainless it's aluminium. It may fit some 308's. There are at least two different styles. The pipes on my '78 GTS come out of the passenger side not the front like this one. It was not a custom job but an "off the shelf" replacement purchase that didn't work on my car (the stock ones ARE steel though).

You really didn't have to rub it in did you Robert? I knew I recognized your name from somewhere!

    Hi Robert,
That does look like a 308GTB expansion tank. Here is a pic of the one that came out of my first car. If it is the same I might be interested, I need to check on the car I have now first though. I've noticed that the mounting points have changed a bit over the years of production. If you are interested in selling directly, can you PM me?

It's the 308 GTB/S tank offered by Superformance in Aluminum, but, as noted, it doesn't fit a '78 GTS. It seems that it must fit some other year, depending on if the hoses come out the front or side of the tank.

    John and guys,

No biggie, I buy stuff on ebay all the time and when I get it home I say why the hell did I buy that?! :) I have recived several PM's from people who want it but first I will measure the mounting holes so we can figure out what it will fit on. I will probably put it back on ebay. Im still recovering from the $1 widget I bought for $500. :) Hoping there is some nut out there as impulsive as me!!! Will keep you posted.

    Correct!

    FChat tech section history note:
Former and now disappeared FChatter Ben Millermon devised a single distrubutor for the 308 using a Dodge advance, cap and rotor for about $500. Several examples that were fielded seem to work fine. A problem never solved it seems was the tach signal adaptor. Ben disappeared a couple of years ago with several claimed unfilled and paid for orders. Calls to his work said that he just up and left. Would be interesting if a Mod could see if he ever came back...

So that's what happened, I was wondering why I hadn't seen any more people talking about this mod. Too bad though, it looked like a nice piece of kit.

Peters's 77 euro 308 has the same tank in BRASS. Odd that they are also in aluminum.

Thats a nice piece you got there. If you don't use it, please pm me. I am looking for that one for my 308. Its the same one I had before, but mine is almost rusted out. If not, can you tell me the seller you got it from so I can see if he has another. Thanks.

Actually it was. Right before he dissappeared he came up with a signal splitter that seemed to work for two or three people. He dissappeared soon after.

I feel stupid that I didn't put a higher starting price or reserve on it. Like I said though, that was my mistake and you were smart enough to spot it. I was going to try returning it but I bought it about six months ago and figured it was easier to just put it up on E-bay. Didn't figure I'd lose $215 in the process though. Live and learn!!

You could have at least used your own picture though ;) ;)
