We've all seen the bumper-sticker "mean people suck"....well, "jealous people suck" could be on our f-cars!

Man....I bought this 355 to have fun, enjoy life and feel the thrill of driving a true race car. Darth told me "now your gonna find out who your friends really are"....he couldn't have been more right!!!!

Seems like everybody has to figure out "why" I bought a Ferrari. Competitive bastards have to figure out some way to knock it. Seems like someone's always telling me how I could have bought a vette, viper or porsche...and how the maintainance is gonna kill me.

I won't waste our time going through the reasons for owning a Ferrari...suffice it to say what I titled this thread:

    JEALOUS PEOPLE SUCK

They just all wish they owned it, for whatever reason. Simple as that--it's called envy.

don't waste your time with the negativity of a few.
Your true friends will be happy for you and not let their ego get in the way.
I'm always amazed when strangers ask me what kind of gas mileage my F-car gets ! as if that was a factor. With a trace of irony in my voice sometimes
I'll respond " If a car gets more than 20 miles per gallon I don't want it" Usually good for a laugh.
The positive reactions far outweigh the negative.
    Enjoy your car

hey well if they're content to try and digest a $5 buck happy meal rather than a $30 steak dinner then let 'em. driving and eating are two things that you have to do, why the hell not make them something to look forward to?

SteveR you are lucky in that you live in LA, in our little town (adelaide, South Aust) the perception in some quarters is that if you have a FCar you are a drug dealer, hair dresser or have wealthy daddy (or all three), this makes it tough because the inuendo gets to you, so i understand where you are coming from but that makes the aura all that much more enjoyable. But hey enjoy the Fcar because u cannot drive when dead and those that are jealous, well they will die unhappy.

you're not a hairdresser then? so those comments about giving people number two's... you weren't talking buzzcuts hey? :D

but nah, i've never thought of fcar as a HDC, that's beema cabrio, porsche boxster, MR Spyder and new beetle/mini territory. most derogatory perceptions about fcar owners i've noticed from non-owners/non-enthusiasts is mid-life-crisis car, along the lines of "that car's wasted on that guy, bet he just polishes it and takes it for a stroll around the block every few months, if i had it i'd thrash it like it's supposed to be driven..." etc. etc.

Yes they are a pain, Just yesterday I was arriving home in the F40 & I let some pedestrian chick cross in front of the car & she gives me this look all filled w preconceptions about how I'm such an ***** for driving a loud sports car & she obviously doesn't know anything about me. Sheesh, they're everywhere

A lot of people have this perception that we're stuck up and a-holes. I find that if I don't even mention the F-car in conversation and try to keep it separate the issues don't seem to come up. It also helps if you have a common car and drive that around the people with "hang ups." The common car also says you're a regular guy that just happens to have a passion for a car that's every guys "dream car."

I'm sure that I (like most of you already have) will find a way to "spin" f-car ownership to those that would be envious. I learned to this in high school and college when my test scores were well above those of my peer group.

We all have *something* that makes *someone* jealous. I usually give them the courtesy of trying to spin it, but they're an ass about it, they can shove it, because whatever it is, I earned it.

It is too unfortunate, while I don't have an F-car, I am 21 and have 2 Mustang Cobra's. When I meet new people, the question what kind of car do you have usually comes up, I almost always say a Mustang. If they are more interested b/c they are into cars, then I will go into what they are and how modded they are, but I even get the envious jealous people "my civic gets 25mpg and your will break down b/s" then I tell them I can make it to the gas staion, fill back up and leave before they make it there the first time ;) Envious people suck and most of my freinds know that I WILL have a F-car one day, and I can't wait to make sure all the a-holes that said it wouldn't happen will be the first to see that it did

What is the typical job of these people?

I only 20, and I'll love if a person had a Ferrari or something. However, I would hate them if they are a-holes and don't really understand the meaning of having such a luxury, other then for status. And it's just not Ferraris, it even with BMWs. But they are not really that wealthy (BMW's, Lexuses, ect).

Get use to it is part of the experience. I found out even some friends I thought would be cool about reacted differently when they found out I
had gotten a 360 and the word spreads out quickly.

Just enjoy it and the true enthusiast friends will like to hear about and asking for a ride. A few months after I got mine I took a good car nut friend of mine for a ride and that was enough and had another convert he eventually got a spider.

Don't pay any attention to the negative reactions you WILL get ... their problem not yours.

    Cheers

Steve i dont have a Ferrari and i would love to own one who knows maybe i will one day if God lets me. Lets get one thing straight Ferrari is and will always be the envy of the automotive world period. You cant even put cars like Bmw,Lexus,Mercedes,Porsche,Chevy,Dodge etc. Sure they may make a car once in great while to give Ferrari a run for there money hell they may even give the prancing horse the beating of a lifetime. Just remeber these car companies are always targeting Ferrari first and what is just so amazing about Ferrari is that they look at these guys with a blank face like they dont even exist...that to me is what makes Ferrari such a great company they just do there own thing while the rest of the automotive world tries to figure out how to bring the prancing horse down to there level...guess what its not going to happen....good luck with your new ride Steve and to you as well :D

    **** these jealous ba$tards!

As we all know, ignorance is everywhere.

Knocking a Ferrari is the same thing as knocking a nice watch, or a nice pair of shoes. It's either pure jealousy or ignorance--or both.

These types of people are usually disaffected, complacent socialists. They don't believe in the principle that people have a right to earn their own money and spend it as they wish. They think that money could be "better spent" on something else--maybe them.

When I see someone with a Ferrari or anything else that's "nice," I say to myself: "Gee, God bless him!" I can happily say that many, many people have expressed the same wonderful attitude with regard to my Ferrari. Then, unfortunately, we have the ba$tards about whom we are speaking.

In short, some people should just mind their own fvcking business.

    hi yawll

its the same here in england. i have a bentley turbo r at the moment and am looking for my first f car - a 456gt - 'a bit hard to find here'

the looks i get when i drive the bentley is amazing - i'm 43 but look a lot younger (so im told !!) so i just get used to it and most of the time bully the other traffic.

works for me. cannot wait to buy my 456 - i will be able to bully them with the car/presence plus the new tubi's i will have on it !!

haha jealous people are only that way coz they cannot be bothered to strive for anything in life.

more power to us that do !!

Don't listen to anybody. Do what you want. I know your friends make you feel bad, but at the end of day they are not your friends. Screw them! All my friends have Ferrari's and if anything it motivates me to work harder so I can buy one. Its your money.

It is one of the reasons why I'm selling my Ferrari. I know its just a little 308, but it has become an inpractical asset for me to own any longer. I fear anytime I park the car that I will return to it being keyed up, or worse. I really love the car, but the jelousy of people is astounding sometimes. I live in a fairly affluent part of the country but even still, I have had to nearly beat people to keep them from touching my car. I have returned to it, to find people sitting on the hood, while sombody snaps a picture, I have had to request window seats at resteraunts just so I can keep my eye on the car when eating. When a window seat is not available, I find myself leaving the table at least twice during a meal to go check up on it. On 2 occations, I'm glad I did.

There are so many times I would have loved to take the car for an eveing out with friends downtown etc..but each time I leave her in the garage and take my other car. I have seen friends cars be damaged a fair amount, and end up having battles with the insurance company to have it reapired. But this time thankfully, the person that did the damage was caught by a bouncer or 2 and held until our arrival. The payment was recived, and damage was do to the vandell's face, arms and hands. He will not be doing anything like that again.

People are so stupid sometimes it make me sick. I just wish there was a law a law, that if you catch the person damging your proppety, you get to do the same to thier propperty, and also recive payment from them, for the damage they caused you, oh..and you get to **** their wife. I'm pissed off even writing this.
