Well my F40 was on Dream Car Garage this morning, nice job Peter! It will air again on Monday nite 8:30 Eastern on Speed Channel. The Dino is on episode 8, in 6 weeks. The Motorcoach is also featured in episode 8!
I can't wait to see the burnout and the doughnuts. You should have got the tiltion carbon-carbon clutch. How did the fat guy get into the seat?
Tom was not there, so he did not get a chance to try and get it (I met Tom a few months later, he doesn't fit). I had the Tilton clutch and lightweight flywheel, I took it off, it is not street friendly. Chris
The video gives little clue to how much track time we actually used, we were at the track for over 5 hours went through 2 tanks of gas! Peter is a class act and one of my new best friends
I believe that you purchased the quartermaster set-up from Tata at Carbou engineering. Not even the same as the Tilton unit. The unit that you purchased used a sintered metal clutch material. The quartermaster clutch used in the assembly costs about $ 750.00 retail. You paid about 4K for just the flywheel. Had you bought theTilton carbon-carbon clutch, you would be delighted with it. You can easily slip the carbon clutch to get the car moving without damaging it. Not so with the one that you purchased. With a light flywheel the metal clutch is only good for racing. Try the Tilton and you will be delighted. The one that you bought was just an overpriced stock car clutch. Both are about 5K only the Tilton one will outlast your car.
Cool program, Chris. Looked like fun. Too bad the vowel-challenged stocky fella wouldn't fit. He'd probably have enjoyed giving it the what-for, too. Five hours? Two tanks? Can see how you scored a new best friend. Good show.
Awesome, I just set up my TiVo to record it... it will be cool to be able to watch the F40 I've ridden in on TV, I'm way excited.
chris, ya know....i left da country 4 an extended "gig"....only to return to find you elevated to a "television star" status..... those of us who've to chris's crib can attest chris's own gargage is qualified as "da dream car garage".... see u this sat.....i will bring a "show but don't tell". later,
Very cool Chris !! our F40 are hot again...I'm leaving for So.Cal to do a TV video . I guess that the F40 gets the recognition due !!! Be ready, I'll invade your TV screen during all the car shows on television. Take care and see you soon Roland F40LM
I stand corrected. That is a Tilton clutch. A two plate metallic one. Retail is about $550.00. That is not a Tilton flywheel. The Tilton flywheel is about $1500.00 and is billet steel. That is not the Tilton clutch that I was refering to. That is not a Tilton carbon-carbon clutch. As I said, you would like the c-c clutch. What you have there is basically a stock clutch and a light flywheel. Totally useless for street driving. The billet steel flywheel is even lighter than the aluminum one, and I lightened it further. The carbon clutch is the difference. No comparison to the one you showed.
WOW!!! WOW!!!! Now I'm gonna have to stay up past my bedtime to watch it!! I love that show anyway, but one of our guys with one of his cars. Too cool!! Fire up the VCR. YUP, no TIVO here. We're old school. like my car. DM
Nice showing Chris. When it came on I thought I commented it looked just like your car from seeing it at the FQC. Sounds like you gave the Dream Car crew a day to remember. That's the second F-Chat Ferrari (that I know of) to be on that show- the 288GTO was the other one. Sounds like the Dino will be the third.
I agree, I did not like it on the street. The flywheel is from Tate, 17lbs as compared to 34lbs for the stock, I must admit the pricing I got from Tate was very reasonable. I do not believe any lightweight setup is street friendly, even c-c, but I accept your opinion.
Sorry Rob, I guess last nite was the last showing, the guide on SpeedTV was not clear... I will get you a copy...
Good thing I know how to drive a stick! Did I ever tell you why Eric did not want to go for a ride? Your car is too LOUD! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
