This morning, I turned off my alarm when it woke me up and had the most lucid dream about driving a 360 for the first time. I dreamed about the weather, the color (Rossa Corsa), and I even remember this car being an F1 (which is not what I want my first F-car to be).

I've got a 308. People are always asking if my car "is one of them kits?".

I bought a bed at a furniture store a few years back and the owner had a Fiero built up like an F40. The thing was ugly. Too short, too tall, windows too big, etc. When the delivery guys came to the house with the bed they saw my 308 and immediately started talking about their boss's car and how awesome it was. They said he had over $10k "invested" in the motor and the car had all kinds of "real" Ferrari parts in it. They said he was trying to sell it and I might want to go check it out because he only wanted $35k for it. I think they saw my lower jaw drop. I was like, "You know, for that money you could buy a real Ferrari 308 and have enough left over to buy a Fiero also."

I don't know how many of these replicas I've seen advertised and they all contain the phrases "Just like the real thing", "over $30 invested", "real Ferrari badges", "a real head-turner".

Why anyone would "invest" $30k into a Fiero to make it look like a Ferrari when they could buy a Ferrari 308 for less than $30k is beyond me.

    Amen brother.

Getting mine (well, I've had it for a year and a 1/2 already) for a song and a dance.

Amazing what happens when a customer brings you one with 6 broken pistons. Money gets tight, and the car can "go away" for a lot less than is in it. Happened to me. I yanked it apart for the guy, showed him how bad it was, started the repairs, then "I" fell in love with it 1/2 way through the job.

Told him it was either going to be a "time share", or "Mine" instead of my bill. I have a 308. Still don't have the title yet. Or the block back from getting the head studs lasered out. Or the crank back from Kominski.....

But the heads are done. Give it a 1/2 a year and another $5K or so. She'll be a happy camper again, but this time WITHOUT the hack job early 1980's era turbocharger on it. Give a Honda cylinder head master a set of 2 valve 308 heads and his Metabo, dremel, and Serdi machines.... A flow bench later and God help us all. The Honda guy has a Ferrari? For under 15K out of pocket?

    Yup.

Im gonna get heat for this, but this is my claim to ferrari ownership.

A few weeks ago I visited the local Sydney ferrari dealer, gawking at the cars next to the prostitutes (the ferrari dealer is in kings cross, a red light district here in sydney), and peeled off the "F" from the sticker signage on front shop glass and ran off.

I stuck this F next to "525i" on my bmw so now im driving a F525i.

Will do until i get the real thing. Hope they arent reading this!

I love my Lotus and while it's not got the public recognition of Ferrari, it gathers crowds and is a total blast to drive. Plus it taught me to fix cars!

Still, I've wanted a Mondial for a while. I could take the kids in it and maybe my wife would even ride in it. I just don't want to part with the Lotus and I CAN'T have two toy cars. I already have more cars than drivers in the family!

Was thinking about getting a 308, but right now my situation isn't well suited for it. College, no garage where i'm renting this year, not to mention i don't want to deal with the maintenance until i have a larger income stream.

Hopefully this spring I will be able to pick up an 00-01 E39 M5 though, which I plan on keeping as a daily driver for a long long time. From there i just gotta get into a home before i start saving for the Fcar.

Good Choice, a 348 seems to be the only affordable choice for me in the future. I've heard its a great beginner car and its cheaper to maintain and drive than my first choice, the TR.

    I love the Cheese grater.

    I'm in on this thread.

    Daily driver: 2004 Honda Accord.
Fun car: 1986 Porsche 928. I do all the wrenching myself.

I don't know how, or when, or which one, but boyoboy I'd love to own a Ferrari one day. And I'd do all the wrenching myself.

I have a Mondial QV and only since Sept last year, not even drove it that much yet, and ownership is still fantastic. However already talking about a 328 or 348. I would also like a 64+ Ford Mustang fastback, but my wife says enuf is enuf. That and garage space.

Would also like to change my old reliable (Accord) for an Alfa 156
