My 87 328 I discovered does not have a battery hold down clip the battery's own weight is keeping it in place. I was thinking of getting an Optima but the bottom of that battery doesnt have a lip for the clip to grab onto. Does anyone have a photo of how the battery is held down and how are you guys holding down an otima battery

    Thanks

I just replaced my battery, and thought about that exact thing. I'm not sure I'd want to have the battery just sitting there since it could become prone to sliding around. The bolt and plate are pretty simple, and I'm sure you could get one for, oh, a couple hundred bucks?! Just kidding. I'd look for a replacement and probably a battery with a lip. Unless the more mechanically-inclined here have a better idea, that is.

Attached is (I hope!) a pic of what's holding the battery down on my '89 car - just a small clip on the front side of the battery - had to hold back the corrugated hose to see it. Hope that helps

Ferrari part# 106525. I had to order one about 5 months ago, price here in the Netherlands about 15 Euros ($20.00)
Should be easy enough to make one yourself.....

There's an "adapter plate" that connects to the bottom of the Optima. Here's a Red Top in my '88.

And the second picture is why the 6 month old Optima isn't going to stay there. The car sat for a bit under three months; from mid Nov to mid Feb - and the battery is not only dead, but won't stay charged, even with no load.

I checked: I still have the "60 month" warranty card for the Die Hard in my Alfa (I went by the storage and started it today. Three months, no problem. It sat for five months in MA before it got shipped down here: again, no problem.)

The Die Hard was installed in the Alfa in January ...

    ... of 1993.

I put an Optima Yellow Top in mine last summer. Factory clip didn't work due to the shape of the battery. I had to modify the clip supplied with the Opma to hold the battery down. Its a plastic mounting clip, so modification was easy with a table saw. Unfortunately I don't currently have any photos, and next weekend is the earliest that I could take any.

Yup, that's the OEM one. Found mine when I refurbished my spoiler. A bit the worse from sitting down in the deep front lip of the Euro spoiler that seems to hold water at times. Almost tossed it before I realized what it was!

Media blasting & powdercoating renewed it nicely tho.
