Nick the only car that i know is on the boat from my local dealership is a 6 speed. no F1's have been shipped yet.
F355 over 348 was a massive improvement and the return of the Ferrari's round tail lamps...to each his own...but the F430 imho is not as good looking as the 360 Modena, especially the front nose.
This car is an F1. I think the 430 makes sense at sticker to say another $20-30K over. Over that, the "money's no object" factor kicks in Image Unavailable, Please Login
agreed, 300k for a 200k car is ridiculous....for 300k, you could buy a 2001 360 coupe and a 2002 murci!!!! you want extra hp, thats a total of 980 hp for the same money!!!!or how about a 360, a gt3,a new z06 and a s2000!!!!thats over 1500hp for the same 300k!!!!!!
Eli, I just do not know who to believe. We have heard so many conflicting stories regarding the building and delivery of the 430, it has reached a point where unless I see I do not believe it.
Patriek, when you took delivery of your 430, you initially expressed disappointment with it. You did not feel it was much different than the 360. Have you changed your mind and if so what has caused you to change?
I would say that he is right. Your 01 360 is an incredible car, and the 430, although is more advanced, is not really necessary. Unless you really feel that you have to have it to be happy, I would say that your 360 is fine for now.
I agree the 360 is much more graceful and aesthetically pleasing. Its form says finesse and elegance. The 430 looks like a bully; the 360's bigger, more aggressive brother. Automotive beauty is not all about aggression and brute force. A 360 looks like a car I could keep for a long time; it would age gracefully into a real classic. The 430...hot until the next faster thing comes out. YMMV of course
if this is the case with the 430..what will the 430 spider f1 sticker with ceramic brakes and over sticker be??????? IMO, i would pay for the ceramic brakes without the premium..... MM
It could be this $300K figure again. By the time that comes out some of the 430 novelty will have worn off. Only time will tell.
I agree completely. I would add cohesive and elegant to your adjectives describing the 360's design. The only words which come to mind regarding the 430's aesthetics are brute force and hodgepodge! So far, I have yet to see a pleasing picture of the 430. And in the picture posted above, even the interior doesn't look appealing (maybe it's just the obligatory tan everywhere...). Looking at this view, it'll be interesting to see how they integrate the manual shifter into the design without it looking klutzy.
I'm definitely in agreement on the looks of the 360 over the 430. After getting a short ride in a 430 yesterday, I could over look some of my objections. What a ride! Black on Black/F1/Ceramic Brakes and really nice seats. If you have disposable income, why not? You only live once.
There comes a time where someone becomes so wealthy that price doesn't matter. Oprah Winfrey saw a house (I believe in West Palm Beach) while driving by and stopped to ask the owners if she could take a look. They had paid $10M for it a couple months ago. She said she wanted to buy it - they said it wasn't for sale. She offered $50 Million and they said "here's the keys". Now was that stupid for Oprah? She got what she wanted and she has BILLIONS of dollars...and probably makes hundreds of millions a year. She gave them a $40M profit in a few months. Another interesting story (this time with cars). I heard through a friend of Eddie Murphy that he bought a brand new Phantom (approx $325k or so). He got a scratch on it so traded it in on a new one. Who knows how much he lost on the deal but did it matter to him? Will he even notice the $50k-75k loss? For someone who has $20M+ or so, you think they're probably making $2-3M a year off of investments plus their income. That's $200k a month. What's an extra $100k to have the FIRST F430 on the block, especially when all your neighbors only have 360's. For all us normal "moderately wealthy" people, I guess it's up to us to get on the list and wait 3-5 yrs.
if you want a 360, which is far better bang for the buck than the 430 at 300k, you are in luck...there is hugh supply out there i suspect prices will continue to drop..should soon be the modern exotic car bargin, along with the gallardo and the 355.....
Maybe I was expecting toooooooo mutch, and drove the car toooooooo less to have a honest opinion But now, I have driven the car several times, several roads, .... and it's SUPER !!!!! The handling, power, torque .... THE BEST I HAVE EVER DRIVEN ! it's goes so incredible fast, so easy,..... Nick, you will love it !!!
Sounds alright. Hey, if I just slapped down $200+K I'd be saying the same thing too. Now is it $150G's+ better(for the average schmo not on the list), the general consensus is no. It is hard to give an opinion without driving a 430 Don't get me wrong if I was lucky enough to get one at sticker I'd be singing its praises all day long......
Oprah bought an estate in Montecito, CA maybe 3 years ago for a reported $50 mil. It was a pocket listing, meaning the agent could bring a qualified buyer but it was not listed in the MLS. It was for sale, to the right person at the right price. Montecito's an awesome area. Oprah's property is on East Valley Rd, just a little ways down from an Italian restaurant my wife and I like a lot. You're right...the extra markup doesn't mean a lot to some people if they want it.
