Color is a really subjective thing. It's up to you. If you really want a red/black one, keep looking. If this car is mechanically good and otherwise in outstanding condition, and the price is right, you might want to go for it and see if it grows on you. But if you totally hate the color, you'll never be happy and will always feel you've compromised.

Touch decision. I've pretty much ignored color in the past when buying collector cars. For me, the mechanics and body integrety are far more important than the color (as long as it's not flourescent orange or lime green or hot pink... LOL). But ultimately, you have to live with it. For me, a nice black car in great condition would not be a deterent.

The color of a car doesn't exactly make the engine run any better, nor will the depth of the paint finish make up for the years of deferred maintenance, nor will the perfect hue of the shine make up for the impact that one broken timing belt, one ruptured hose will have on your wallet.

Painting, or repainting, a Ferrari is cheap and easy compared to the mechanical difficulties you will encounter if you let trivial esthetics overcome better judgement best reserved for scrutiny of service records. Wrong color? So what...get it repainted. What happens if you actually decide to drive the car, and you get a stone chip somewhere? Is the car ruined? Will you NEVER repaint part/all of it sometime in your ownership?

The historically valuable Ferraris were repainted several times over the years, most every car with racing history was repainted several times in a single season. How much did you think this matters in today's marketplace?

Me I like to "DRIVE" and that means taking a stealthy approach. Red is like a red flag to a bull(cop). Also who is the car for, because a red car is a hey look at me car. IMO a red ferrario is just so ovedone, and all those red late 80's firebirds dont help.

A boxer is a classy car and looks good in most colors, red doesnt add or detract, it just depends on how you want to project.

I'm the second owner of record of my 308QV. It's red/tan now, but apparently the first owner ordered it in metallic maroon and hated the color once it got here, so he had the dealer take the car apart and repaint it! So when people ask me if it's the original paint (it really looks well cared for) I tell them that the paint is as old as the car, but it's not factory original -- and then I explain it.

A Ferrari never has the wrong color. It's always the color the owner likes it and that's most important!!!
