Since I haven't had much time to log into FChat due to work as of late, I want to make sure I am clear on the chain of events: the server crashed a couple of months ago, we came back online with a temporary server, and now we have transitioned to a permanent server? Is that the right chain of events? Was the transition to the new, permanent server done a couple of weeks ago? If that is the case, my apologies, as I was not aware of the latest transition. Nonetheless, I would still say that we are still running slower - and it seems that others are also feeling the same. I will triple check when I get home tonight to make sure that the issue is not one on my end (firewalls, etc.) but both home and work seem to be running slower.
OK, server crashed end of last year. Had been running 1-2 load averages before then. Same server came back up 1 day later and I didn't install the PHP accelerator or tweak too many things as I knew I wanted to switch hosts and get a new server. Load averages went up to 2-3. A few weeks ago we switched to the new server and off and on it has either been really fast (0.2-0.5 load averages) or slow as right now at (0.9-1.2). We've been doing quite a bit between getting everything moved here, installing new software like for FA, getting Zend configured, and then taking a look at MySQL. We obviously don't have the magic combinations right now, but we're getting close. I estimate within a week we're back flying and since we don't have much else to change or install, it should stay that way.
I really dig it. MUCH better than I expected. I only wish I could view all sales by a particular user. Due to some people getting ripped off on manuals etc. I was trying to see what else one user posted on there and to see if it was the same user, but took a bit of manual hunt and pick.
Hey Rob- Some of the new functionality is cool like who posted what ad last, but the best thing has to be the pictures next to the ad headlines so you can see the car/item that you are considering clicking. Just my .02 but I really liked the simplistic manner of FerrariAds before. I think my semi-negative reaction to the site is merely due to the colors that it is presented in. I find them a bit garish. But then, people have said that about my site and I love it. And it is MY site, just like FAds is YOUR site... so... solicit feedback but ultimately do what you want because someone will hate it always. Good luck, and again you have my thanks for providing such a great community. Nick
Any chance we can make "mileage" a key input that is summarized on top - suggestion is to replace "condition" with it? Did we decided to stay away from disclosing VIN's due to security reasons?
If you go down to the bottom left corner of FerrariChat.com and change the style from the drop down, that will change for FerrariAds.com too. Eventually I will add some better styles.
I think the new format is great and easy to use. Now if just someone would make me an offer on those valve shims, shocks, and body parts. Tom
I am currently in the market for a 348 so I find FerrariAd.com very useful as well as all of the useful information on this FerrariChat.com site. Thank you very much
Can everyone tell me how they think the speed is now? We found and fixed a major culprit, but I haven't had a chance to test out all the way. Thanks
But I LOVE the Fchat format and don't like the Fads format. They look totally different now. Are they inextricably tied? Can't I just change the red/black Fads to look like the greyscale/blue Fchat? Good stuff though Rob. Nick
Hmm, I think I know why we're getting confused with each other. Your browser needs to refresh. The style shown in FA should be exactly the same as what you have in FC. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Back to BLAZING speeds! Now THIS is what I'm talking about! Good job Rob! (I told ya something was holding it back! )
The fix yesterday made a huge difference, but I just found another little tweak to MySQL that will help a little.
Check out these numbers since this morning! 0.24 0.23 0.25 | 187 Users Online (134 members and 53 guests)
I think the new format is much nicer. Both sites were user friendly, but aesthetically speaking, I prefer the new look. Congrats!
