a friend of mine bought a spider last year but has now realized that with his travel schedule he hardly ever gets to drive it, so he wants to sell.

its LHD, but based in london with uk plates. tdf blue over naturale, with a blue top. 6 speed manual, challenge grill, race seats, red calipers, tubi. 5200km on the clock.

i have pictures for those interested, just send me an email.

best bid over £100k before summer, drives it away....

i think it came to the uk in june of last year. if the price is too high, then tell me what it should be; i am basing myself on what i have seen advertised in the uk, and 2003 models (without the extras of this one and more miles) are being offered at £110k plus. let me know if you want pics.

Private sale around £93 k . Joe Macari has an almost identical car up for £97 k. If it's on sale or return deduct £5k for dealer.

ok. good. i am sure he would consider a lower price as well, if it was from a serious bidder. (by the way, the macari car is a 2003) this car has been maintained by maranello when the owner was out of town. i can arrange pics, viewings, etc. let me know.

    This is a general observation:

Many private seller advertise their cars way above there it would be sold eventually, thinking that they ought to leave room for bargaining. One thing tha most people overlook is that a lot of buyer can simply searching the net, finding main dealer/reputable independent dealers who are offering cars much cheaper.

So what do buyers do? Call the dealer and buy from them with a peace of mind and completely ignoring the private sellers. Maybe the private seller's bottom price was be lower than that of the dealers, but unless they start realistically, they're simply being bypassed. And what do they have to do eventually? Sell the car to dealers at really rock bottom prices!

So, in the future, whenever someone complains about dealers margin, have a look at the asking prices of private sellers and you'd find out why dealer have no problem sourcing cars and selling them.

    Just an observation.

You have good point jfk, but in my experience if you work out the maximum you are prepared to pay for the car before you go and see it and if all is well put a cheque under the sellers nose they usually tend to go for it

The point is: to induce anyone to have an initial interest in the car, private buyers ought to at least price their cars sensibly to start with. I'm sure that when presented with cash/cheque, they would lower their prices. Then why not start with a lower price, something that would differentiate their cars from those of the dealers, and in doing so help stop inflating dealers profits and stop depriving real car lovers of their dream car at a sensible price?

point taken. the car is now advertised on piston heads for £95k, thereby undercutting some of the older cars, and undercutting some of the RHD models of the same year by nearly £20k. i believe this is a realistic price - hopefully somebody else will too !

I see what you are saying, but people are people!! I for one, prefer to buy from a private buyer. You usually spend a lot longer talking to the car and the owner and you get a much better impression of how it has been kept and if its been loved or just another car.

as noted above, the price has been lowered to £95k. if you are interested at that price please send me an email.
if your budget is 80K then i would advise looking at the pistonheads site because they have a few older cars in your price range.

We have a 2003 TDF/Tan car with under 1700 miles on the clock. Offers around £92k seem about fair!!

I too agree that contact with the owner sometimes yield additional information on the car. However, a quick glance of the the cars advertised in places such as the FOC with prices approaching those sold at main dealers, shows how frustrating it is for new buyers who end up paying up at main dealers. How can you blame them?
