I'm worried. I have an 8 cylinder CS, a 2 cylinder Fiat and a 2 cylinder Vespa - that's 12 Italian cylinders. If I promise not to hog the caviar & cigars, can I join the 12cyl club with some sort of adjunct membership? Please don't make me hang with the 8 cyl guys!

    Respectfully, Will ;)

    Will,
try going for an assosciate membership first, then move up to the full blown 12 cylinder club when you've got over the dizziness:D
acpes- off now to castigate the menials for no particular reason whatsoever.

    Andy,

TOP POST, MY FRIEND ! :) :) :) :). Good to see a fellow conductor of the 12-cylinder orchestra 'keeping the British end up' so to speak....

I've had two mid-engined V8s (348 & awesome 355) and now have a front-engined V12 (black 456). LOVE 'EM ALL ! They're just too damn different for a particularly useful discussion to be had, IMO, each having advantages.

Of course what I REALLY want, is an F430 with an 850bhp supercharged 6 litre V12 (575 or Enzo engine) in the back of it, or a 575GTC....

I luuuuuuuuurve the torque of the V12 all the way from 2000rpm to bouncing off the rev-limiter. I luuuuuuuuuurve the go-kart handling of the current V8s. What's a chap to do? At last, I think the F430 is beginning to close the gap between the two different types. Otherwise it's a Lambo Murci (waaaaaay beyond my budget and very under-whelmed by Diablos that I've driven, so jury's out on that option).

At 140mph I'm not leaning over the engine bay counting the cylinders - I'm driving the damn thing! What do I care?

Looking forward to giving the old girl a sound thrashing this weekend if the weather's as good as it is now (and driving my Fcar)....

    Pip pip.

    J.

    Jimmy,
us 12 cylinder black beauties must indeed keep up the standards. If you require an old girl to thrash over the weekend, I can arrange for the Gardeners mother to be posted (2nd class of course).
    kind regards and chin chin

If it has a Cavallino Rampante on it, it's a "real" Ferrari, and that's that. As for the Dinos, that's open to debate.

But I will admit the 12s sound better, particularly if they're unmuffled.

I've got a 12 with my 330 2+2 -- like many who buy an older Ferrari, I bought what I thought was cool when much younger. No regrets!

If I were to drop another 50 grand-plus chunk into the Ferrari well, it would be for a nice, price-depreciated 328 or 348, rather than a tradeup in the vintage area.

I've rethought this. I would have to build another garage if I got a fourth car, so I would go with the tradeup.
