I am a new owner of a '90 348ts and love it more than I could ever imagine. It has the usual slow windows and now the usual clutch problem. Another F-Chatter is helping me out with fixing some of the small things and this past weekend the clutch started slipping. I have found a couple places that will rebuild it (Norwood $1450 (Kevlar)), and another place that will sell me a new one for $1500. My questions are this, I know that in '92 the clutches went to a single plate, is it possible for me to use a single plate in my '90 and are there any advantages/disadvantages to either configuration. My second question is I hear everyone talking about them rebuilding their clutch. Where can I find a kit to do the rebuild and what is the ballpark price. I appreciate everyone's help in advance. I'm trying to get the car back on the road by the end of the month!!! It's been down since Saturday and It's killing me not to be able to drive it!

On a side note, I am looking into doing an exhaust change. I'm wanting to start with test pipes and want to know if anyone has any suggestions on where to purchase them from or if anyone has a set that they are wanting to get rid of. Are there any suggestions as to doing test pipes first or exhaust first. Thanks again for the advice. This is the best web-site in the world!!!!

i had my clutch plates resurfaced (kevlar) and a few other minor things done at international motorsports in huntington beach. I shipped them the whole assembly, they shipped it back. With shipping I think it cost me about $900.

    quick turnaround too.

the clutch is nothing special, it's an AP racing clutch and I found some local places to do it as well, but they were a bit more in the range you're looking at.

Ricambi America has Hyperflow test pipes. I just ordered some a few weeks ago. They come drop shipped from Hyperflow, had them in 2 days. I still have my stock exhaust, but plan on replacing with a tubi in a couple months.

I bought my test pipes from Erik Jonsson. They're stainless steel and polish up very nice. $300 for both. Comes with the O2 sensor inserts but not the thermocouple insers. (which you don't need with test pipes anyway)

PM me for his email address.

I did the EXACT same thing as you when I got mine. Replaced the clutch and fitted it with test pipes all in one shot. My test pipes I got from HGparts.net...they came with the spots for the thermocouplers and o2 sensors. $350 for the set.
