Looks like Ferrari teamed up with Panerai to develop a Ferrari watch! can't wait to see how it's gonna look like! great move by Ferrari in my opinion.
And I thought the GP Ferrari watches were too big. Now the bling crowd will be wearing saucers on their wrists...
Panerai produces interesting time pieces. Have lusted for a Panerai Luminor GMT. Guess that puts me squarely in the "bling crowd"!
I too have lusted over them. Take note however they come in 40mm and 44mm dials. I will probably buy one soon. I'm not sure I will purchase one with Ferrari logo on it though, I think it may be too much.
FYI, Ferrari has been licensing watches with their logo since the 1950s. It used to be a tradition for Enzo to give his best customers a watch.
i disagree with u. the GP Ferrari watches are TOO SMALL. Panerai watches are not 'bling'. only if u get the ones that are iced out. all watch makers are making BIGGER sized watches now because that is the trend now.
And like all trends, it will end some day. Wonder if these will be 50% off retail (like GP's) when they show up on ebay in 2-3 years...
I, too, am looking forward to seeing the design of these watches. I am a big Panerai fan. I have a 44 mm titanium Luminor Marina that I wear everyday. They are wonderful timepieces.
Audemars Piguet watches are HUGE...at least 42mm+. are they 50% retail like all GP's? answer: NO Panerai's NEVER sell for 50% off retail. At most on ebay, u will see them like 25% off, if they are brand new. People want BIG watches now. That's why AP and Panerai are IN and WILL STAY IN forever. Once u wear a big watch, u can never go back to small tiny Rolex's 38mm, etc...
I love big watches too and also want a Panerai. (Are you listening Yoshi? ). The watch I have on now is a 44mm and it's my favorite. When I put on my 38mm Tag or Omega, they seem really small.
The Rolex sports watches (Daytona, Sub, Yacht, etc.) are all 40mm and relatively common. The oddball Panerai is the 44mm, the most common size being the 40mm. The large difference is in the thickness of the case. The Luminor Marina was almost unatainable a few months ago, but as usual, now readily available. I too wonder what will happen with the Ferrari branded Panerai, as the GP watches do not hold promise (at least the Ferrari editions, with the exception of a grand complication model about to come out).
Panerai watches are a fad, currently being led by Hollywood. In terms of anal quality, these watches are not comparable to the other high end manufacturers. Also, if you buy a Panerai, you are not buying an investment. Don't get me wrong, I personally like the aesthetics of Panerai watches... BTW: There are places selling unworn Panerai watches for 50% that of retail. You just have to find the right jewler (not ebay).
I have the same watch, titanium with black band. Matches my grigio titano/black 360 F1. I figure it was about time to buy a decent watch after my last expensive watch, $10.99 at the NAS Miramar Commissary, broke. Those velcro fasteners only last so long.
I've been desperately waiting for these watches (Luminor Marina 44 mm) to be in better supply. Can anyone PM me a reputable source. I travel constantly for work so I can easily do a deal in person. Thanks for the help.
You should limit your "GURUism to F1. My Series A power reserve, for which I paid <3K, could be easily sold right now for 12K. DL
No. The truck guy was the finder guy who got it from the other guy...who's name was, ironically, Guy! Damn French! DL
I always thought margins on retail high end watches were huge. 40-50% discounts are the norm through wholesalers, pretty much like the diamond market.
I remember a few years back one of the Ferrari dealers was offering GP's at cost +10% which was equal to right around 50% of MSRP. But yes, like clothes, these can be high margin businesses.
You need to have good contacts for these prices though. Luckily I am friends with a high end mens fashion distributor who has lots of wholesale contacts for jewellery, watches etc, so I get clothes, watches and jewellery at wholesale prices.
I agree - the GP Ferrari watch is a bit small. Small - Medium - Large Image Unavailable, Please Login
