    Check this station out. It is modern alt. rock and is run by the students at Michigan State Univ (my alma mater!). It was voted the top college station in the U.S....plus no commercials.http://www.impact89fm.org/

    There's a pretty good station going now in Chicago. Nine FM, they're calling it. It's 92.5, 92.7, or 99.9 depending on where you are in Chicagoland. They claim to have 1/3 of the commercials of the typical FM station, and are running a very open format. Tagline: "We play anything." And so far, they're holding true. Its not that often that a classic Al Green tune transitions into whatever crap constitutes today's music. As everybody knows, rock music reached its peak in 1973. (Apologies to The Simpsons).
